 ARENA History of the Arena THE first Year Book published at Paris High School was called th . Arena, and appeared in 1910. The name itself is suggestive of the meaning for as the arenas of the Middle Ages displayed the pageants and glories of ancient Rome, so the Arena of P. H. S. records and reveals the events of the school year. In 1911 the publication was titled the “Pee Aitch Ess.” From that time on, however, excepting “The Clarion,” a quarterly magazine which replaced it in 1915-16, the Arena has been edited yearly. The success of these books has been due to the efforts of the faculty sponsors and the helpful co-operation of Miss Wenz. Miss Ella Slemmons, Mrs. Mildred Boland Dodds, Miss Effie Fans'.er, Miss Elsia Tate and Miss Zulu Z. Wright are teachers who, in the history of the Arena, have taken the responsibility of its production. Following is a list of those students who have held the positions of Editor and Business Manager during the seventeen years of the publication.
