During her 36 years at Pardecville High School, Mrs. Lenz has been an example of an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher. In addition to teaching various Business Education classes, Mrs. Lenz is the advisor to the school newspaper, the Bulldog s Bark. Mrs. Lenz is always available when someone is needed to help sell tickets, sell concessions and chaperone dances. She enthusiastically participates in school activities such as dress-up days, assemblies, and attends nearly every school event. Our yearbook staff would especially like to recognize Mrs. Lenz for her 36yrsas Yearbook Advisor. We are able to appreciate the many hours site must have spent to produce the previous excellent editions of the Whisper. Congratulations, Mrs. Lenz. 24 MR WES BABCOCK — Bio- logy. Science. Student Librarians use their study hall time assisting Miss Winters with library duties. The Club sponsors an annual Ques- tion of the Day Contest. This contest challenges participants in the use of library resource materials. Last year’s winner was Gary Satina Penny Dann placed second. Gary re- ceived a $10.00 gift certificate from Walden Books. Gary also had his name engraved on the Question of the Day Plaque. Gary Satina. Penny Dann 1984 marked Photo Club’s second year at P.H.S. The only requirement for membership was an interest in photography. Projects done included developing black white film, and making proof sheets and enlargements. Special darkroom techniques such as burning and dodging were taught. Several Ko- dak slide presentations covering cam- era use, lenses, and filters were shown. End of the year projects in- cluded the ektachrome slide process making photograms. Standing: Penny Dann, Michelle Jolliffe Seated: Ellen Farrey. Rachel Baker, Tony Ziehmke. This industrious group was led under the direction of Mr. Harmon. The week long homecoming festivities was the council's first major project. All of the games that were held at noon and on Thurs. evening were made up by council members. Mr. Ken Youra was the director for Homecoming this year. He played a huge part in its success by helping the council plan and organize the celebration. For more information on Homecoming Week see pg. seventy four. They next sponsored the first Hallow- een Costume day at P.H.S. Students were apprehensive about dressing up and when non-participants saw how many took the challenge of creating a costume, many were regretful that they had not pul on a disguise. At Christmas time the council orga- nized the student assembly. Individuals and clubs took part by performing skits and singing songs. Bruce Hodgson enter- tained the troops by having various stu- dents draw names for candy. Sponsoring dances was another re- sponsibility of the council, as was stock- ing the pop machines and keeping the event board in front of the school up to Mr. Harmon — Advisor Tim Barden — Vice President Amy Tye — Treasurer Kelly Ernst — Secretary Bruce Hodgson — President date. These are just a few of the many ac- tivities that the Student Council was in- volved with. Without their hard work and dedication many of these events would have been impossible. HUT With many circumstances against them, the team still managed to have a winning season under Coaches Bos- tad and Maass. Homecoming was an event that we will long remember. When we faced Cambria, we played the worst mud bowl the fans had seen in years. The rain poured and although the Bull- dogs played a respectable game, they came up short and lost by 26 points. Pardeeville bounced back to win their last 3 games, which gave the Bulldogs a winning season. Two of our men were chosen as All- Conference Honorable Mention; Mark Peterson for Offensive End and Carl Fischer for Defensive Lineback- er and Defensive Lineman. Joe Baldowin was chosen as Team Cap- tain and the Most Valuable Player and Outstanding Lineman Awards went to Carl Fischer. The Bulldogs had one man injured during the course of the season. Jeff Williams — Assistant Director Mr. Paul Ulrich — Pianist Mrs. Sanderson — Pianist Mrs. Skaar — Costumes Mrs. Blount — Choreographer 90 A vacation cruise provided the scenes for the musical ANYTHING GOES. Billy Crocker boarded the ship without a ticket and the plot of the play pursued Billy in many dis- guises to cover his identity. On this cruise also were many criminals and “Angels” which their zany behavior provided the audience with much laughter. The play concluded with Billy Crocker marrying Sir Evelyn’s fiancee Hope, and Sir Evelyn marry- ing Reno. THESPIAN INITIATES Initiation Day for the International Thespian Society brought out many strangely dressed characters. Old members decided what character each novice initiate would become. The day saw Trina Miles dressed as a mime actor, Darla Bradley as a witch, Mikki Hebl as Mickey Mouse, Dan Wegner as Grumpy from the sto- ry “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” Cami Brown as Princess Leia from the “Star Wars” movie se- ries, Patti Bahls as a cabbage patch doll, Karen Gleiter as Strawberry Shortcake, and Jenni Manthey as a belly dancer. For more details about the Thespi- ans see page forty-one. 92 Trina Miles, Darla Bradley, Mikki Hebl, Dan Wegner, Cami Brown, Patti Bahls, Karen Gleiter (seated), Jenni Manthey. Frustration and disappointment met the Bulldogs as they Finished the season with a conference record of two wins and seven losses, and a sea- son record of four wins and twelve losses. It looked like a promising season as the Bulldogs won their first game against Wayland Academy. Despite their team efforts, the men’s hopes were met with a dash after losing the next four games by two points or less. In Subregional action the Bulldogs battled the Rio Vikings for eight in- nings, only to be defeated by one point. Kevin Bostad was elected by his teammates as the most valuable play- er. He was also named to the Dual County All Conference Team. Bart Eberle and Don Chapman were elect- ed Co-Captains. 95 HIT — RUN — SLIDE SCOREBOARD OPPONENT WE THEY Marshall 2 17 Poynctte 8 14 Montello 4 14 Princeton 6 17 Cambria 6 15 Wayland 5 13 Westfield 2 18 Poynctte 4 12 Montello 4 12 Randolph 15 8 Princeton 16 11 Cambria 6 13 Westfield 13 16 Wayland 4 12 SUB- Poynette REGIONALS 19 21 Due largely to a young inexperi- enced team, the 1984 Softball Season was not very successful. The girls had to face some tough teams in confer- ence play, namely Montello and Westfield, and luck was not on the Bulldog's side. Perhaps the highlight of the season was when the team won two games in a row. Unfortunately, these two wins were to be the season's only victories. Pardeeville had one player named All-Conference; infielder Julie Ott. Mikki Hebl received honorable men- tion all-conference. Julie Ott was vot- ed Most Valuable Player by her teammates. Highlighting the team’s third place finish in the Conference Meet were the first place perfor- mances of Patti VanSwol in the 300 M Hurdles and the 400 M Re- lay team of Patti VanSwol, Traci Becker, Caroline Osborn, Shei- ia Simonson. Inexperience and lack of numbers pla- gued the 1984 Boys Track Team. Pat Bourdeau and Carl Fischer were the team’s only seniors. As a team the boys placed third at the Bulldog Invitational and a disappointing eighth at the Conference Meet. Team scoring was led by Mark Duffert in the high jump, Carl Fischer in the discus, sprints, and relays, Dan Wegner in the shot put, Pat Bourdeau in the distances, and Rick Skaar and Shawn Wegner in the sprints and relays. Pat Bourdeau and Carl Fischer were chosen Co-Captains by their teammates. Carl Fischer was voted as the Most Valuable Player. 101 FORE Golf was the new sport added to Par- deeville athletics in the spring of 1984. Most team members were first time golfers. Coaches Ebben and Schmies were especially satisfied to see the im- provement everyone on the team achieved. At the conclusion of the season the team placed fifth at the Conference match.
