Thinking back through all the years. Of all the fun we've had. And all the times that there were tears. The good times and the bad. We never will forget the years We spent at Pardee High, And as the end is drawing near We soon will say good-bye. We cherish all our memories And reminisce of friends We're eager for our joumies And await their unknown ends. By Deb Jackson 2 DEDICATION We the Class of 1981, dedicate this annual to Mrs. Briggs. During her thirteen years at Pardeeville High School, she has always done and still is doing many kind deeds for the faculty and the students. She does anything from washing and mending athletic uniforms, taking care of pom pon gloves, sewing letters on softball and baseball hats to finding needle and thread when your pants rip or a button falls off. Mrs. Briggs has always been around to help us rescue our lost items and to lend a helping hand to clean up our mess — although she does most of the cleaning. She also has given her full support during such crucial times as prom, homecoming, com- mencement, Christmas . . . Mrs. Briggs has many times demonstrated her unselfishness by being there when you need her and always with a smile. No one knows what all she really does for everyone. This dedication is our way of saying. Thank you, Mrs. Briggs. Class of '81 3 I deeply appreciate your thoughtful kind- ness and friendship. It is thanks to many nice friends, family, and Pardeeville High School that I have enjoyed learning about this country, and the way of living. I'm really glad I got to know you. And how happy I should be if I could meet you some day again! Mayumi Sato MAYUMI SATO The people of the U. S. are very friendly and everyone tries to help me. I have been in three towns; Pardeeville is the one I like best. I have met many nice people in Pardeeville; they really have made me feel like I belong here. Since I've been in the U. S. I have learned a lot about the people and how they live; I’ve been able to see the good things and the things which are not so good in your country. I have benefited from the things that are good Severiano J. Santos, Jr. 4 SEVERIANO J. SANTOS, JR. The court was an- nounced by the Master and Mistress of Cere- monies, Tony Enger and Dianna Ricks. Last year's King, Joel Hammond, crowned Dan Haberkorn as King. Dan then Crowned Sherry Cross as his Queen. The other members of the court were: Leo Fisher escorting Mary Eggle- ston; Dan Houk escorting Sherri Swanson; Russ Knutson escorting Pam Larson; and Scott Smith escorting Joanne Hawley. The Miniature King and Queen were Darren Dolajeck and Lisa Larson. After the crowning, everyone join- ed in on the grand march. The night was a huge success, and one of the pleasant mem- ories for the class of '81. 24 . • 'WPHW lT i I IP! Although the class competition was still there, the school spirit was going stronger than ever could have been wished for. Each day was a special dress-up day. Monday was hat and crazy sock day, Tues- day, bathrobe and slipper day; Wednesday, dress-up day; Thursday, nerd day; and Fri- day, blue and gold day. There were also many new Homecoming games in which students could participate. It was a busy week full of fun for everyone. After the week's activity, points were totaled; The Seniors took first place having just a narrow lead over the second place sophomores. Friday night was a perfect fall evening for a victory. Pardeeville won the game against Rio with a final score of 21-6. Homecoming week ended with the tradi- tional Homecoming dance. The gym was de- corated in the Autumn colors of brown, orange and yellow — setting the scene for the theme of: All Out of Love . Music was provided by Mandrella. Homecoming 1980 was a very memorable event. 26 u N D E R C L A S s M E N ...♦nitfard the, 29 JUNIORS Joe Baillies Julie Balzer Penny Barden Jeanette Bessac Jane Bortz Chris Bostad Robin Bradley Tom Brodeur Cheryl Burns Gary Bursack Brenda Calkins Mike Carpenter Valorie Chapman Brenda Cook Brian Cook Mike Corbett Charles Curtis Sherri Dann Denise Deakin Doug DiBell Charles Downey Kim Ehlert Lori Flower Bonnie Gavinski Dennis Haberkorn Lori Hamilton Sally Hanson Beth Hare Ronald Herold Barb Hinds Clark Hodgson Kari Hoffman Darlene Houk Greg Howe Bill Hughes Mike Jerred Karen Johnson Peter Katze Brian Kearns Randy Kluth Jim Krause Ricky Lang Linda Manthey Ronald Mesick Lisa Miles Brad Millard Tod Navarro Wendy Neef Craig Patchin 30 Morris Plath Michele Pufahl Linda Satina Scott Saviano Shelly Schehr Stacey Smith Gwenn Stauber Keith Stebbins Dee Dee Stowell Scott Swiggum Tracey Terry Vicky Thompson Pam Tupper Don Waldrop Karl Weihert Carmen Wentz Valerie Yakish Norman Cook No Pictures: Garret Hall Jim Konzel Kevin Krueger Tim Simonson Cameron Sims JUNIOR CLASS OFFICERS — C. These girls tried out, along with many others, to the song Don't Bring Me Down . The squad consisted of five seniors, eight juniors, three sophomores, and one freshman. The co-captains were seniors Dianna Ricks, a four-year member, and Sherri Swanson, a three-year member. During the summer, thirteen of the seven- teen girls attended Pom Pon camp; it was held at Carroll College in Waukesha. The girls learned several new dance routines, along with several pom pon, glove, and chair routines. The girls that attended camp were: Cory Gavinski, Joanne Hawley, Dianna Ricks, Darcy Gavinski, Sara Thompson, Lori Flower, Bonnie Gavinski, Beth Hare, Barb Hinds, Linda Manthey, Lisa Miles, Faye Barden, Mary Steinich, The unique thing about camp was that the girls raised enough money last year so that the Pom Pon squad treasury was able to pay the girls' fees to camp. They are hoping to do this again in 1981. With hours of hard work, staying after school, and help from their advisor, Miss M. Waldinger, the squad was able to perform at all the home football and basketball games and at several pep rallies. All the footbali routines were performed with the band under the direction of Mr. J. Rusch. During basketball season and pep rallies, routines were done to numbers by the band and popular hit records 40 SENIOR POM PON GIRLS — Bottom: J. Hawley. Middle: C. Gavinski, S. Swanson, S. They return- ed with new cheers, routines, and sideline chants. They received several high ratings along with the spirit stick. The entire ten mem- ber cheerleading squad attended. Basketball cheerleading was a great suc- cess and proved to be very exciting for all the cheerleaders. The co-captains for the squad were Mary Eggleston and Robin Bradley. Seniors on the squad were Mary Eggle- ston, Lisa Empereur, and Sherri Jacobson. They ended up with a 15 and 1 record, which awarded them the title of Co-Champs of the Dual County Conference. This year's team had great depth. Their rebounding ability was a great factor during the season. Pardeeville brought down 40 re- bounds to the opponent's 30. The girls averag- ed 43.1 points a game, while the opponents averaged 29.2. The girls averaged 34% from the floor and 46% from the free throw line. Gretchen Guenther was the team's lead- ing rebounder. She was also the lead scorer with an average of 12.4, along with Julie Cahoon, with an 10.9 average. Coach Howery, in his second year as head coach, says the girls did an all around good job and steadily improved through the sea- son. He also states that he was impressed with the leadership of the senior class and that there is a lot of potential in the underclass players. This year's J. V. team did a good job, and should come back strong next year. Over- all, Mr. Howery was impressed with their at- titude and perceptiveness.
