During her ten years here at Pardeeville High School, she has been an active leader as pompon and cheerleader advisor, and jun- ior class and pep club advisor. The class of 1980 appreciates all the help she has given us, and the time she has spent working with us. Her enthusiastic interest, continuing en- couragement, and assistance has given us and others the ability to complete each task. We give our sincere thanks to Miss Wald- inger. Class of 1980 MEMORIAL We can only think of Ted with wonder. We feel sorrow: his absence is hard to accept; his thoughtful ways admired; it must be hard to say good-bye; and most of all we love him . . . No one can change the loss: the wind gusts heavenward; the sun yet shines; the multitude continuously mingles; and lastly, the earth can only keep growing and loving . . . He will never be forgotten: to remember with happiness is the important thing; to be happy with our own life; but, of course, he has reached a better place; And our friend, Ted, will always remain fondly in our memory. 3 We look ahead with awe, soon to take the long road. Peering to the past often, we reminisce about roads traveled before and cherish the memories. During our previous journeys we've left bits and pieces of ourselves. Now, we diminish the last chords of childhood. We look ahead with wonder and glancing back we imagine the faint sound of music. Pomp and Circumstance, perhaps of the Pardee-Pep? It makes no difference now, it's our turn to make our own music. 4 Patty Haynes SALUTATORIAN JANE C. The cheerleaders had an opportunity to at- tend the NCA cheerleaders camp at University of Wisconsin Stout. Of the ten girls on the squads, nine of them attended. They received several high ratings along with the spirit stick. The cheerleaders added a ''Cheer of the Week and Chant of the Week”, which was published each week in the Mid-County Times to get the crowd more involved with cheers Basketball cheerleading was a great suc- cess and proved to be very exciting for all the girls. Seniors on the squad were Pam Hanson and Patty Pulver. SENIOR CHEERLEADERS — P. Pulver, P Hanson. 31 VARSITY BASKETBALL CHEERLEADERS— M. Eggleston, P. Pulver, L. Empereu P, Hanson, S. Julie and Kara also placed 2nd and 3rd at sectionals which was high enough to send them both to state. At the state meet in Madison, Kara placed 8th, and Julie placed 3rd. Pardeeville was again rewarded for their deeds by being rated 4th in the state in a poll taken by the coaches. This seemed to show the fans that the team didn't have any “prima donas as the coach had stated before the season had started. The Bulldogs played very impressively throughout the rest of the season, and ended it with a record of 6-3 and a third place finish. The Bulldogs six victories came at the hands of Cambria, Green Lake, Pall River, Princeton, Rio. and Westfield. The Bulldogs losses came against Montello, Randolph, and Poynette. The Bulldogs were in all of these games, but a few mistakes cost them the game. Chuck Eberle was the only Bulldog to gain All-Conference honors, and after the Westfield ball game he was voted Prep Player of the Week by the Wisconsin State Journal. Offensively the following Bulldogs got honor- able mention, Dusty Schmitt, Jim Taylor, and Russ Knutson, and defensively Chuck Eberle, Dusty Schmitt, Russ Knutson, and Jim Taylor received honorable mention. 47 HOMECOMING '79 — Sally Hanson, Chris Bostad; Ann Eggleston. There was the usual tug-of-war and a few new games such as the crabwalk and the gunny- sack races. The points from these games added to those of the dress-up days, resulted in the Seniors taking 1st place; with the Juniors run- ning in a close 2nd; Freshmen receiving 3rd; followed by the Sophomores in fourth place. The night was bitter cold, and the games ended with a bitter loss to Randolph 41-0. The Bulldogs tried hard, but just couldn't seem to get it together. The Homecoming dance was highlighted when King, Chuck Eberle crowned Pam Han- son, Queen. The court danced to the theme from Ice Castles, Through the Eyes of Love. The gym was decorated in blue and white, with music provided by the Look . It was a week of lasting memories, which helped to make Homecoming 1979 a success. 48 VARSITY VOLLEYBALL TEAM — Bottom Row: P. Gillingham. Mgr; T Bortz. Mgr. 2nd Row B Baldo- win C. Cross. They immediately swung into an exciting schedule of tough competition with the team's first non-confer- ence victory against Columbus. Of course, with such a great amount of senior and junior talent present, Ms. McGraw had the difficult decision of picking her starting line-up. There were seven returning lettermen, Beth Baldo- win, Cathy Cross, Jodi Felton, Barb Keith, Lani Marcellino, LeAnn Navarro and Karla Walker. The other varsity members were Gretchen Guenther, Kathy Healy, Diane Kearns, Tracy Merwin, and Nan Pulver. After much thought Coach McGraw decided to rotate many of the varsity players to give each player with her special talents a lot of time on the court. Pardeeville ended their season in 5th place out of 10 conference teams with a record of 4 victories and 5 unfortunate losses. Bill Hughes achieved stardom this season by taking second at the Dodgeland Tourney, first at the Pardeeville Invitational for the sec- ond consecutive year and placing a strong third at the Conference Tournament at Mon- tello. Rounding out the placing at the meet were Dan Barden, with fourth, and Jim Taylor, with fourth. Captain Dan Barden posted an excellent season at the 155 lb. class, while Jim Taylor proved strong at heavyweight. Bill Payne, Scott Swiggum, Clark Hodgson, and Alex Dawson were the young wrestlers that will surely prove contenders in their final years. This season was mostly a rebuilding year, with seven varsity members having little ex- perience. Next year with all but two wrestlers returning, the Bulldogs will undoubtedly prove contenders for the conference title. 59 SENIORS IN WRESTLING — D. Barden, T. The members of the cast were: Alex Daw- son, Martha Frank, Kerry Neef, Craig Patchin, Michele Pufahl, and Kent Steele. The Infanta' centered upon a young princesses desire to be like all other girls her age. The characters were played by: Tammy Steinich, Lori Flower, Chris Ernst, Jeff Manthey, Kerry Neef, Pam Tupper, and Carrie Leazenby. The last play, The Lying Valet was a comedy about a rich nobleman who has lost his fortune and de- pends upon his lying valet to keep it a secret from his future wife. The cast of characters were: Gary Landsverk, Jeff Williams, Patti Haynes, Patty Pulver, Alice Bregi, Tim Smith, Barb Hinds, Candi Meyer, Wendy Neef, and Tyler Pease. The Lying Valet won the local compe- tition, and then continued on to the conference contest which was held at Montello on Oc- tober 20th. The cast performed well there and continued on to the subdistrict meet in Poy- nette on October 22 where they earned their way to the District Meet in Whitewater No- vember 10. Unfortunately, their hard efforts did not match the tough judging they faced and a B rating was awarded to them. Directing the plays were Mrs. Nancy Carr, Mrs. Evelyn Goke, and student director, Amanda Dawson. 71 1979 SCHOOL PLAY — Bottom Row: L Landsverk, W. Neef, B. Hare, R. Bradley 2nd Row: C. Every year, students learn about more con- venient and efficient ways to farm; they also receive training which will help them in agri- business. An annual Hay and Grain Show is held so students can show their products and get judged on them. Two seniors are chosen each year to go to Kansas City, Missouri for a broader view on farming techniques and agribusiness. The seniors chosen for 79-80 were Mike Malisch and Missy Tolley. F. F A.
