OUR FOREIGN FRIEND Patty Matzumura Foreign Exchange Student Soon after 1977 started, P.H.S. received a foreign exchange student. Irma Patty Mat- zumura, daughter of Vincente and Irma Mat- zumura, was our guest. She stayed in the homes of Sue Peterson, Rose Hatzinger, and Tammy Steinich during her six month stay. Patty came from a family with one brother and one sister, both younger. She has no plans in the near future for mar- riage. She may return to her secretarial job or visit her grandfather in Japan. She said that our school is very different compared to hers. Her school was much more strict. They wore ugly gray uniforms and the skirts are worn to the knees. School is fun here, Patty said when asked how she liked attending Pardeeville High School. Patty, 18 years old, has already graduated from high school in Lima, Peru. She partici- pated in the International Fellowship Inc. stu- dent exchange service. She will be leaving in June. Patty says, English is easy to write, but to speak, no. 18
