The Pardeeville Chapter of the Future Farm- ers of America had a higher enrollment this year due to the fact that a new rule stated that everyone in Vocational-Agriculture must be in F.F.A. The F. F. A. continued to carry on such ac- tivities as concessions during both football and basketball games, and popping the pop- corn for various occasions. Two days were set aside for forest work days in the spring and fall. They had basket- ball games with other schools, and in the spring they went on an enjoyable camping trip. This year the annual banquet was replaced by a parent-son pot luck supper. FFA OFFICERS—J. Barth. Reporter; C. Rataczak. Sent.; F. Meierdirk, Treas.; Mr. Krueger, Advisor; R. Kamrath, Pres.; R. The Pom-Pom girls and cheerleaders work- ed together with G.A.A. for the first time this year. Because of the great interest in cheerlead- ing they have changed to six cheerleaders on each squad. New uniforms were purchased for both squads. G.A.A. has established over the past four years travelling basketball and volleyball teams. The teams compete against teams from Cambria, Rio, and Fall River. Teams organized by sportsheads compete against each other in speedball, soccer, foot- ball, basketball, volleyball, curling, and soft- ball. The girls are awarded points for all sports they compete in and work toward a goal of 1500 points. When they have earned the re- quired number of points they receive a G.A.A. pin. September was celebrated by parading at Wisconsin Dells and for the Homecoming parade and half-time activities. In October, they performed in the Homecoming Parade for Stevens Point, and afterwards joined with thir- teen other state bands for the half-time spec tacular. Under the supervision of Mr. Jim Rusch, the band held a car wash later in October and earned a fair share of profits and wet feet. The annual Winter Concert was highlighted by a great sound from the concert band. In Feb- ruary, a number of students from band par- ticipated in an All-Star Conference Band Day at Cambria. They scored superbly in the Solo Ensemble Contest in March, held at Markesan. Many solos won excellent ratings, and every- one contributed their very best to the band. Early in the Spring a Pop Concert was pre- sented for the school. The Spring Concert, an annual activity for the band, was received with great enthusiasm by the school and by the public that evening. As tradition requires, the band played their final farewell to the senior class at Commence- ment Exercises. The band and Mr. Rusch are to be complimented for the great work they did at all the games during the year. BAND OFFICERS — K. Krueger, Pres.; D. Bernander, Vice-Pres. 47 CHORUS—Top Row: J. With the help of Mr. Vance George, University Director of the Tudor Singers and University Chorus in Madison, the chorus prepared a concert for the students early in the year. In November, students from the chorus participated in the All-Star Chorus at Oshkosh, directed by Mr. Lee Kjelson. The highlight of the Winter Concert was the stir- ring Hallelujah Chorus. In February, the Markesan Chorus performed for the Pardeeville students, and the Pardee- ville students performed an exchange concert at Markesan. Both choruses did extremely well and are to be congratulated. At the Solo En- semble contest, many students worked very hard to make it a great success. In May, the Chorus performed again lor the school in the Annual Spring Concert. They also sang for Commencement Exercises for the graduating class. The Music Boosters furnished money for dresses for the Triple Trio, and also a plaque on which the name of the year's outstanding vocal student is engraved each year. GIRLS' GLEE CLUB — Top Row: D. Following was a snake dance which ended downtown with a pep rally conducted by the cheerleaders. Homecoming Day, September 27, started off with the parade in the afternoon. Each class and some organizations were represented by a float. The Seniors placed first with their en- try of Rock-et To Em, Bulldogs!'', the Fresh- men took second place, while the Juniors placed third. Also appearing in the parade was the Homecoming Court. Representatives were: Freshmen—Susan Crawford and Corky Grimes. Sophomore — Joy Walker and John Bortz. Juniors — Deb Walker and Scott Seely, and Seniors — Diana Steiner and Dave San- born. Heading the court was King Doug Corn- ing, and Queen Joanne Robbins. The game in the evening was one of the most exciting games of the season. The fight- ing Bulldogs defeated the Randolph Rockets 21-6. Finishing off the Homecoming festivities was the dance. Led by King Doug and Queen Joanne, and the Camel Magic furnishing the music to the theme of Everything That Touches You, the beautiful and thrilling 1968 Homecoming ended. 52 HOMECOMING COURT—Corky Grimes, Susan Crawford, Scott Seely, Deb Walker. Queen Joanne, King Doug, Dave Sanborn, Diana Steiner, John Bortz, Joy Walker. Everything That Touches You 53 BULLDOGS TAKE SECOND The defending champion Pardeeville Bull- dogs scuttled their first opponent, Wautoma, by a score of 19-6. Don Corning showed great running ability as he scored twice. Next on the roster was a hopeless Princeton team. Pardeeville easily rolled over the Tigers by a score of 47-0. George Polnow, Doug Corning, and Dave Sanborn each scored twice, and Dick Woodward once. The Bulldogs and the Cambria Hilltoppers tied in the second conference game of the sea- son. Pardeeville just could not get rolling and the score stuck at 7-7. Pardeeville fought down the perennial power, Randolph Rockets, by a decisive 21-6 score, for the Homecoming Game. The big defensive line made this possible. They were Greg Wolf, Joe Koepsell, Bruce Brant, Dennis Wopat, Scott Seely, George Lytle and Dan Cummings. Polnow scored on two and kicked the extra points. Doug Corning played an out- standing game at his halfback position. The Bulldogs next moved over to take on the Fall River Pirates, who they handily beat 39- 12. Dave Sanborn, George Polnow, Bob Schenck, and Doug Corning did the scoring. Pardeeville tied into their rivals, the Rio Vikings next, and put them down 12-6. It was a hard fought game, but the cream came to the top. The Bulldogs invaded the Markesan Hornet's Homecoming country next. As yet, the de- fending champions were undefeated and they showed their heritage by stinging the Hornets 27-6. The vicious offensive and defensive lines of Pardeeville played terrific ball. Pardeeville now entered the championship game with Montello. Things didn't click as the Bulldogs were unable to get moving. They were defeated 22-6. This put the Pardeeville Bulldogs in an undisputed second place. A record crowd attended the annual foot- ball banquet. Bob Skoronski of the Green Bay Packers was the guest speaker. The Most Val- uable Player Award went to Doug Corning, senior halfback. Dennis Wopat received the Honorary Captain Award. Greg Wolf received the Stagg Award for the most improved play- er. The Dr. Winkler Award was given to both George Lytle and Dan Cummings the first time in it's ten-year history. The following boys made the all-conference team: Dan Cummings —Offensive Guard, George Polnow—Offensive Halfback, Doug Corning, Offensive Halfback and Defensive Safety, George Lytle—Defensive Linebacker and Honorable Mention Tackle, Greg Wolf—Defensive End, Dave Sanborn— Honorable Mention End, Dennis Wopat—Hon- orable Mention Middle Guard, and Dick Wood- ward—Honorable Mention Quarterback. He then divided the boys into two teams. Pardeeville plays in a league with schools throughout the area, including Madison East and Madison West, Poynette, Portage, and Lodi. This ye'ar Pardeeville competed in the Wau- sau Bonspiel and the State Sectionals held at Poynette in addition to regular league play. The curlers had a good time and enjoyed a successful year. 65 WRESTLERS—Top Row: G. Lytle, J. Koepsell, D. Steele, D, Hayes, J. Barth, G. Barden, L. Spicer, Mr. Bostad, Coach. Third Row: K. Being beginners, Pardeeville began just like any other school, learning new holds, experiencing new techniques, and most of all, sportsmanship. Wrestling is more an individual sport than a team sport. The reason is, because there is no one out there to help you, but you yourself. If you get pinned or beaten, that's one against your record and one against the team's score. Wrestling is bound to become more popular in the coming years. There are some great prospects coming up, and with a few more years of practice and hard work, Pardeeville will be great! Good luck to an up-and-coming team! 66 TRACK—Top Row: Mr. Snamiska, Coach; M.
