The senior class has had many enjoyable times together. One of these was the freshman initiation party. At that time, they really be- came acquainted with the upper classmen. During their sophomore, year, they had a chance to initiate the freshmen and gain a little revenge. Before they knew it, they were juniors and it was time to decorate for the junior prom. Everyone enjoyed working on the prom, and it will always be remembered as one of the prettiest Pardeeville has ever had. The maga- zine sale was a terrific success and the treas- ury received quite a boost. This year the seniors were involved in many projects — these included the school news- paper, The Bulldog's Bark. The paper was improved in many ways and achieved a new look.' For the first time, photographs were included. One of the largest projects was the 1967 Whisper. Many hours of work went into the production of this year's annual. The seniors are very proud of the yearbook. The class play required a lot of practice, but the excellent results proved that it was all worth- while. Graduation is the end of the four-year asso- ciation as a class — each senior now goes his own way. Never again will the class enjoy an activity together — but possibly most of the class will be able to attend the first reunion. The Homecoming activities for 1966 started off with the annual bonfire on September 15. Following was a snake dance which ended downtown with a pep rally conducted by the cheerleaders. Homecoming Day, September 16, started off with the parade in the afternoon. Each class and organization was represented by a float. The Seniors placed first with fheir entry of We're More Than Teddy Can Bear, with the Sophomores and Juniors tying for second. Also appearing in the parade was the Homecoming Court. Representatives were: Freshmen — Cindy Werner and Leon McQueen. Sopho- mores — Carrie Barden and Dick Woodward. Juniors — Jane Steffenhagen and Doug Love- lace, and Seniors — Rhonda Vilhauer and Kurt Herreman. Heading the court was King Gary Wolf, and Queen Melanie Mayes. The game in the evening was one of the most exciting games of the season. The fight- ing Bulldogs defeated the Randolph Rockets 38-19. Finishing off the Homecoming festivities was the dance. Led by King Gary and Queen Melanie, and with the Spectre, Inc. furnishing the music to the theme of See You in Septem- ber,” a wonderful Homecoming came to an end. 36 37 FOOTBALL A-TEAM — Top Row: Asst. The Pardeeville Bulldogs tabbed as under- dogs at the beginning of the season clearly showed they had power and a good defense by downing a strong Wautoma eleven 26 to 7. Quarterback Jay Eggleston led the attack by throwing TD strikes to Randy Harruff and Doug Lovelace and also scoring one himself. The Bulldogs surprised everyone again by soundly beating a hopeful Montello team 26 to 7. This victory really started the Bulldog attack rolling. Homecoming saw Pardeeville meet the de- fending champion Randolph Rockets. The Bull- dogs really showed their power and versatile attack. The electrifying Jay Eggleston scored three touchdowns on a short run, and 76 yard kickoff return, and a 73 yard punt return. Gary Wolf also scored two touchdowns. Pardeeville went to Princeton and easily defeated them 35 to 0 as everybody saw action. Cambria was next on the list and they came into town looking for a victory. It was a hard fought game but they finally bowed out 26 to 0. The always tough arch rival Rio Vikings invaded Pardeeville and received a decisive 20 to 0 setback. Gary Wolf led the attack with two touchdowns. Now undefeated, the Bulldogs marched into Markesan and felt the sting of the Hornets as they were narrowly defeated by a score of 19 to 14. Gary Wolf scored the only two touch- downs for Pardeeville. With a possible tie for the championship still within their reach, Pardeeville next played the unbeaten and unscored upon Fall River Pirates. They made a valiant effort but were finally scuttled 42-13. The Bulldogs ended up in a tie for second place with Rio. A record crowd attended the annual foot- ball banquet honoring the boys. A special treat was provided when the Booster Club presented Willie Davis of the Green Bay Pack- ers as the main speaker. Kurt Herreman re- ceived the Honorary Captain award. Gary Wolf received the Most Valuable Player award. Gary Miller received the Stagg award for most improved player and the Dr. Winkler Lineman award went to Steve Wenzel. The following boys made the all-conference team: Kurt Her- reman as Defensive Linebacker; Gary Wolf as Defensive Linebacker and Offensive Halfback; Gary Miller as Defensive End; and Steve Wen- zel as Offensive Guard. 39 John Hepler—end Terry Kruger—guard Gary Wolf—back Jay Eggleston—quarterback Kurt Herreman—back Mr Snamiska, Mr. Bostad, coaches. The mixed chorus this year was made up of 76 students. Their director was Mrs. Ida Price. On December 13, they presented their annual Christmas Concert at which they sang: 0 Come O Come Immanuel, While By My Sheep, Snowtime Holiday, Do You Hear What 1 Hear, and Silent Night in German. There were also several ensembles performed by members of the chorus. Early in the Spring, many of the students participated in the Solo-Ensemble Music Festi- val. Later in the Spring, the entire chorus par- ticipated in the Music Festival held at New Lisbon. In May they presented their annual Spring Concert which was well done and en- joyed by all. 52 The band was made up of 31 students this year and was directed by Mr. James Rusch. The band was given plenty of practice playing at Homecoming, and all other home football games, so that their performance in the Christ- mas Concert on December 13 was very well done. The numbers they performed were: More, Spanish Flea, Forest Splendor, The Little Drummer Boy, and The Sound of Music. Many of the band students participated in the Solo-Ensemble Contest which was held at Elroy. Later in the Spring, the entire band partici- pated in the Music Festival at New Lisbon. During the basketball season the band played at all of the home games, and in May they presented their annual Spring Concert which was very much enjoyed by all present. The Pardeeville chapter of the Future Homemakers of America started its 1966-67 season with the initiation of their new mem- bers, with Sandra Hodgman presiding as Presi- dent. They had a busy year as usual. On October 27, the FHA had a Halloween Party with the FFA. Refreshments were served. Regular monthly meetings were held after school and committees were selected to plan different activities for each meeting. Degree meetings were held once a month for those girls desiring to work for their degrees. In May, the FHA girls enjoyed their yearly trip. FHA OFFICERS: Seated: C. Barden. Reporter; L. The Girl's Athletic Association started this year with their soccer tournament which was played on the football field at the park. With a few bumps and bruises, they moved on to the football tournament, and then to the next ac- tivity on the list, which was basketball. This year, as last year, they played interscholas- tic basketball. For these games, the public was invited. As the basketball season was in full swing, they also started curling. Even though all may not have been professionals, they had fun. Then as the school year slowly moved on, they started the volleyball season. A tournament was set up and the champion- ship achieved. The next thing on the agenda was recreational sports. This consisted of bad- minton, table tennis, shuffleboard, and trampo- line. The fun of the softball games ended the year in GAA. The GAA joined the National Girl's Athletic Association, and at the end of the year, the seniors, who through their four years, earned 1500 points, received their pins. This year they took their first GAA trip which was a great success. GAA OFFICERS—Standing: Sportsheads—J. Murphy, B Stearns, A. Giese, L. Miller, J. Cummings, L. Eagan, K. Ernst. Seated: J.
