Chanqeable fall — the season of lazy, slow, easy days of Indian summer — the clear crisp days the riot of color — the damp nights — hunting, hiking, football, and school. It was the season of going back to school, of seeing familiar faces and meeting new people. , But — let's go back — back to the first day of school, September 4 On that day the Seniors looked very much at home and confident amid the wide-eyed, bewildered Freshmen. We scanned the group of new teachers, and typical of our age, we made hasty judgments. The lonq awaited day of Initiation finally arrived and the Sophomores eagerly imposed mock tortures upon the strangely clad Freshmen. How the Sophomores loved this day, and perhaps it isn too presuming to say that the Freshmen called it fun, too. . , , ... , Football games were one of the highlights of the season. Few students missed the exciting at- mosphere of the games. The Pep Band and the faithful cheerleaders added to the enjoyment of the 9 The biq event of the fall was Homecoming. This was the week when school spirit ran high, the week when a general feeling of excitement prevailed. The immense bonfire and the snake dance on Thursday night began the climax of the big week. At the bonfire, it was announced that Suzaunne Ades would be Queen and Billy Warnke would be King. The participants of the snake dance wove in and out, twisted and turned and then, breathless, paused for cheers on the corner of Main Street At last, amid the turmoil of decorating, the big moment was approaching. The parade on rriday afternoon with the Band, the floats, and the Queen and her court added its share of the excitement to the already tense and excited crowd. Then that night came the climax of the week, he game with Camoria Spirits were dampened by our defeat, but, really, nothing could suppress them for long. Everyone enjoyed the big dance after the game. And, after everything was over, the Seniors were a little sad, for it had been the last time they were really a part of Homecoming. ,, Other activities added to the excitement of fall—F. F. A., G. A. A., Chorus, and the one-act play. Meetings, initiations, sports, and other enjoyable times in these activities are not the kind of memories that will be laid aside and forgotten in a short time. , , . , Thanksgiving vacation came — and went and we had settled down to the routine of school. And as the leaves fell from the trees and a few flakes of snow began to fall,we knew that fall had ended and winter was approaching swiftly.
