Man lives alone Thinking he has friends Who touch his life — Who stand by him, help him, Comfort him, support him. But in his voyage through life He finds but one person to trust, Believe in, depend on — Himself. Friends are but acquaintances Who share in his glories and trium phs But desert him in his failures and humiliations. And this is Life — A time when man touches And is touched by others, But all remain unmoved And unchanged by each other. For man lives in the closed world Of himself. But sometimes, just sometimes man meets One person Before whom all pretense falls— One willing to share in all he does, Good or bad — One who touches his very soul And whose soul he touches. And this special person Who gives and takes Love, understanding, companionship
