The Admiral... And The First Mates Mr. Joseph P. McDonough, Principal Mr. John J. LeRose, Vice-Principal Mr. Joseph P. McDonough, as the principal, evalu¬ ates all faculty members, meets weekly with the depart¬ ment chairmen, attends many night-time activities, and makes all final decisions concerning the welfare of Paramus High School. Mr. John J. LeRose, one of the two vice-principals, helps coordinate the smooth functioning of the build¬ ing, oversees the budgets of the various school organi¬ zations, and orders the needed audio-visual equipment. Mr. Michael A. Azzolino, the second of the vice¬ principals, is in charge of scheduling the program of all the students and organizing school-time assemblies. Mr. Thomas Verga, this year, has become a member of the administrative staff, leaving his position as a teacher in the Business department. As Assistant Prin¬ cipal, his new responsibilities include checking up on absentee attendance, preparing failure reports, coor¬ dinating the activities of other faculty members, and, advising the student council. Most important of all, Mr. Verga supervises the co-curricular program and prepares the calendar of events for the school year. Working with students in an attempt to solve their personal problems is the task of this dedicated group. Its members operate, under the able leadership of Dr. B. Barbarosh, through private and seminar discussions, special testing, and personal counseling. Their efforts create a child-counselor rapport that bridges the generation gap. Students from all Paramus public schools may benefit from the aid of this competent team. Parent Council... The $.$. Scholarship To create a better understanding between students and parents is the principal goal of the Parent Council. This service organization, headed by Mr. J. McDonough, Principal, meets monthly to discuss school functions and problems which concern the community. Dollars for Scholars are raised each year by the Parent Council through their pop¬ ular Scholarship Show, a series of skits presented by each school in the town. Also, the Back to School Night program is run by this dedicated group of people. Many Paramus High students owe a debt of gratitude to these hard-working individ¬ uals for their help in the furthering of their education. Parent Council — we thank you! Back Row: Mr. M. School Belles! Board of Education Secretaries ... Back Row: Mrs. Marilyn Brafman, Mrs. Ruth Mayer, Mrs. Jean Otis, Mrs. Kay Heger, Mrs. Rita Harper, Mrs. Anne Smolensky, Mrs. Catherine Lynn. Although they are little known to most students, the Board of Education secretaries play an important part in the maintenance of the Paramus School System. Mrs. T. Hards and her five assistants coordinate all the interlocking records and services of all the schools in Paramus. Mrs. N. MacDonald and Mrs. L Giannan¬ tonio are the two payroll clerks. Mrs. A. Smolensky and Mrs. K. Heger are budgetary control clerks. Mrs. J. Otis oversees the use of school facilities. In addition to these ladies, every man in the Board Office has an assistant. These include Mrs. J. Frost, secretary to Mr. Shelly; Mrs. G. Nutland, secretary to Dr. Dunn; Mrs. C. Lynn, secretary to Mr. Mele; Mrs. R. Harper, secretary to Mr. Van Pelt; Mrs. M. Braf¬ man, secretary to Mr. Galinsky; Mrs. R. Mayer, secre¬ tary to Mr. Koenig. High School Secretaries... Back Row: Mrs. Helen Sedlak, Mrs. Phillis Bonacasta, Mrs. Betty Vanderbeek, Mrs. Sophie Slotkin, Mrs. Joan Pappalardo, Mrs. Bertha Styles. Front Row: Mrs. Cynthia King, Mrs. Doris Woardell, Mrs. Catherine Sabella. Mrs. D. Woardell ' s legion of secretaries fights a daily battle with ringing telephones, saident schedules, unbalanced budgets, and the clock in an attempt to keep the High School running smoothly. Besides all this, this group also deals with students who have office appointments, does all of the school ' s clerical work, and generally keeps matters well in hand when the situation down at the office becomes frantic. Although they may occasionally lose a battle, they never lose the war!
