Science ... Seeds of Skill Sanford Schepps Chemistry Science Department Chairman “Ideas” With its emphasis upon facts, experimentation and action based on evidence, science suggests procedures that encourage reflective thinking and inquiry necessary to a free society.” This is the science department of Paramus High School, whose chairman is Mr. Sanford Schepps. Biology, chemistry, and physics are the three divisions of the science department. Biology embraces the study of the origin, history, characteristics and habits of plants and animals. Chemistry studies the principal theories of matter and elements. Physics explores such natural phenomena as matter, time, space, light, motion, and the nature of electrical energy. Each year, students from the three divisions or areas participate in the Science Congress. Term projects are prepared and twenty are presented by the students to the public and fellow students. Business ' I ' » ' Louis Di Taranti Shorthand Typewriting Business Department Chairman To prepare students who plan to seek employment in the commercial world is the primary objective of the business department of Paramus High School. This department is staffed by eight teachers, including its chairman, Mr. L. DiTaranti. Courses offered to business students include typewriting, shorthand, bookkeeping, business math, and the operation of business machines. Students are also given the opportunity to participate in the Distributive Education program, which helps them to practice their skills while gaining experience. For those who plan to further their education in college, half-year courses in personal typewriting and Gregg Notehand may be selected.
