Reading In the sophomore year a detailed study of the individual through the various phases of personality development is achieved by writing an analysis of one ' s background, friends, and future plans. For the junior year, great emphasis is placed on the social implications in American literature, which gives the student a wider understanding of others. As a climax to the program, the seniors for¬ mulate their philosophy of life through a con¬ centrated study of the choice in values. Other courses available in the English curric¬ ulum are Speech Fundamentals and Speech Arts, two year courses which help to develop appre¬ ciation of drama and the theater for all three levels.
