i fx 51 We ies. ecol' el'4 Joan Horovenko Editor 1960 Jolly Roger Sparked by the drlve of Editor Joan Horovenko and the faith of Advisor Mrs Esther Ericson the 1960 Jolly Roger staff determined to make this year s edition the most Members sought the thing which made 1959 1960 unique The answer was in the staff room itself for working as assistant faculty editor was Ana Marla Schmidt one of Paramounts first two foreign exchange students From Americas ne ghbor Colombia Ana Marla saw Pirateland from a new angle She and her fellow staff members hoped that this year would build friendly ties from Calafornla to Bogota and from Paramount to Milan that neither miles nor years could weaken They looked about them and found many foreign born Pirates who were bringing flavor and fame to their campus So in addition to complete coverage of events and personalities, the staff focused reader attention on the gifts each race has brought the United States, in general, and Paramount, in particular. . 'Q Mrs Esther Ericson Sponsor 1960 Jolly Roger They designed a cover bringing the wide world close to home, they unearthed lovely costumes and planned meaningful division pages Why? To prove that in spite of expanding space and shrinking miles a Hi Neighbor ' policy ID the hands of such teenagers as Ana Maria, Bruno, Edith, Linda and Marian would indeed unite nations!
