A porthole, offering Pirate crews a sweep- ing view of the world, its past and pres- ent, is the busy and expanding P.H,S, library. Supervised by Miss Jan Ann New- burg, assisted by Mrs. Margaret Barr, her secretary, the building houses over 7,000 volumes. The current year saw 465 added to the stacks and an order for 200 more is being processed to meet student needs. A vital Library Training Program interests students who are anticipating a career in this field as well as book lovers and Pirates seeking a challenging elective. From it they learn to use a library effec- tively, to assist in the mechanics of its operation, to be ready for further training on a professional level in college, and to be able to use library and reference ma- terials efficiently in their personal and business lives.
