They also keep inter-school spirit high with competition among other schools in the Paramount District, and the annual Girls' Athletic Day. The requirement for becoming a Letterette is participation in one of the designated sports. This year the girls had a fudge and chocolate chip cookie sales for their money raising projects. Sponsoring the Letterettes is Miss Jo Ann Day. ', Trophies garnered by Pirates in sport events staged this year were not many but proved added strength in basketball and continued excellence in league sportsmanship. Left to right: Banning Invitational Basketball Tournamenty Coast League Sportsmanship Award: and Consolation Trophy, Paramount Invitational Basketball Tournament The l959 Banning Invitational Basketball Trophy was acquired during the Christmas holidays Pirates we e not expected to give top seated Banning Broncos any trouble since they had won the tournament five straight years Defeating Beaumont 55 20 Banning 45 36 Hemet 62 50 and Valencia 59 55 the Pirates clinched the championship All members ofthe team received individual trophies Senior Bill Osman who will long be remembered took home four trophies lHngh Scorer All Tournament Most Valuable Player and an individual trophyl. Para- mount received a 1959 Sportsmanship Plaque. Spirit ran high and Pirates are proud of its continued recognition. Pirate cagers again rated the i959 Consolation Trophy at the Paramount Invitational Basketball Tournament held hereto open the season. I959 1960
