However un- successful, they placed heavily in the pole vault, hurdle events, and the broad iump. Led by Co-captains Les Coombes and Glen Chand- ler, they were always in there fighting. Highlight of the season was the fine showing made by Pirate Les Coombes. This senior was the only Varsity squad member to capture a place in the Coast League Track Finals. He won first place in the pole vault event with a iump of 12' 4 .
