Only three Pirate players returned from the '59 championship line-up, while the other ve Coast League teams regained the maior- ity of their squads, Inconsistent hitting and field- ing hampered Pirates all year. As the season drew to a close, only a 'few boys continued hitting. Bill Gibbons, Harold White, Jim Gordon were leading hitters while seniors, Stan Baker and Dennis Moore finished the season creditably. Promising players such as Al Hilton, Pete Merrick, Mike Clark, Roger Morissette, Wayne Land, Bill Gibbons, and Fred Hill should put the Pirates within reach of the 1961 crown.
