Paramount's Pirate Drill Team, advised by Mrs. Pauline Katnich, added color to home football games played by the Pirate gridsters. lts graceful turquoise or maroon ranks responded to the whistle cues of capable Captain Kaye De Kinder. Two members also deserving special attention are Co-Captain Cathy Hussing, who had the knack of arranging new routines, and Sherry Johnson, secretary-treasurer, who managed financial and executive details for this large organization. Especially distinctive was its performance honor- ing Homecoming Queen Marilyn Griffin. Lithe and limber, Paramount's trim maiorettes set off the marching band and earned applause in their own right. Led by Dixie Hughes, whose twirling career began as a Bruin mascot in the Rose Bowl, the quartet showed to advantage on every occasion. Performing with the Pacettes, six saucy Flag Girls added to half-time sparkle. l.ed by Sandy Hohl, they pranced smartly front and center, left and right, in original routines. All three groups paraded at Lynwood's Homecoming and in the seasonal Christmas parades at Comp- ton and Paramount.
