Mike , Bill Loper, Bob Gould, Bo Parading to the strains of Sousa's marches, fifty- four Pirate Marching Band members contributed ably to half-time spirit this fall. Their uniforms and routines provided pageantry at the Lynwood and Christmas parades. Led by Bondmaster Ken- neth Briggs and Drum Maior Dick Doty, the group had a challenging fall schedule. lt finished the year by earning o superior rating at both the Anaheim Festival, March 9, and the Paramount . 9' Music Festival, May Head Twirler Dixie Hughes, Maiorettes: Barbara Melton, Jacque Sharp, Sandy Turnauer and Drum Major Dick Doty have added spirit, color and grace to pep assemblies, home grid games, and Christ mas parades. lllllllllll

Winning the admiration of the entire student body, the Paramount Senior High School Pirate Orchestra has completed a challenging schedule of fine perform- ances under the baton of Conductor Karle Major. Providing the music for pep as- semblies proved the orchestra an asset as an entertainment feature. Real musician- ship was evident in the two Christmas programs given on the Pirate campus, these stressed traditional Yule numbers. Traveling to the Anaheim High School Music Festival, March 9, the group presented a fine program and won a rating of excel- lent on its interpretation of such selections as Ballet Parisien by Offenbach, Little Rhapsody in Blue by Gershwin and June is Busting Out All Over by Rogers. Iiaarmnnp iBrehaiIsg Small and select, the Paramount Girls' Glee Club, gave a memorable performance at the November Parent-Teachers' Association meeting. ln addition its members demonstrated their musical talent at two pep assemblies, winning the favor of the audience with their rendition of new and old favorites. Spring semester found the girls busy with their director, Mr. Karle Maior, preparing numbers for May 9. Then before hundreds, the Pirate glee club gave its customary colorful and capable performance as a part of Paramount's Musical Festival. 104 anh eluhp is Queen
