W5 ww The Jobs for Arizona Graduates counselors are always hard at work, planning field trips and individual counseling. Two counselors attended a financial aid seminar at Grand Can- yon College in December to update Paradise Valley with the latest col- lege financial aid procedures and programs, said Mr. Jerry Lemon, department head. With this new information, the counselors held a workshop for students and parents to inform them on what's available and how to apply for scholarships, grants, loans, and work-study pro- grams. Along with this, guidance arranges and shuffles schedules, does credit checks, records tran- scripts, distributes ACTXSAT pack- ets and much more. The office lost three counselors because of lower enrollment this year but the change has not affected the counselor-student ratio. Also with the guidance depart- ment are Miss Heather Blair, in charge of the career center, Mr. Steve Lewis, our first school psy- chologist, and the ladies from the Jobs for Arizona Graduates, Miss Cindy Batko, and Ms. Teresa Son- crant. 77
