Foreign Language . . . Being able to communicate MV- Leonard Ortega Mr Don Clifford Mrs Deborah Hinton Mrs Mairlyn Lenz Department Chairman I think it is a beautiful thing to be able to go to a for- eign country and be able to communi- cate in their lan- guage, said Mr, Leonard Ortega, department chair- man. The Foreign Lan- guage Department offers students the chance to explore other countries in a fun and interesting way. Besides the learn- ing ofthe language, students are given the chance to learn about the histories and cultures of for- eign countries. The department also offers an annual trip to Mexico. The stu- dents travel by bus to Mexico and spend a week there. Because of popu- lar demand, the Department will be adding an Italian course to the curri- culm. The course will be offered in the '81 -'82 school year. The Department also offers a self study program for those students who cannot for some reason fit a foreign language into their schedules. The stu- dents work at their own pace and are given a credit at the completion of the course. Dana Cunningham con- centrates on her German assignment. Stacy Hall, Shawn Wakley and Dona Long are study- ing their German for a com- ing test.
