The only difference I notice in the decreased enrollment is that l have a few extra books on the shelf, said Mrs. Mary Jane Johnson, bookstore manager. The decreased enrollment of stu- dents didn't change the jobs of the staff members at PVHS. This year PVHS acquired a new attendance system with color coded cards. This has worked out very wellf' said Mrs. Carol Anderson, senior attendance clerk. During the second semester attend- ance was computed, too. This is a much more sophisticated system and so much quicker, said Mrs. Anderson. This system decreased ditching and helped update a student's absence record. Registering for school was also done by computer. This computer also gives basic information about a student like their schedule and grades. A printer was also added to the computer this year. This printer makes class lists and schedules. This new computerized system is efficient and accurate so it saves time, said Mrs. Bobbie MacLeod, Registrar. The nursing staff was busy this year updating health forms and immuniza- tions. To provide better senfice, both nurses received their bachelor of sci- ence degrees. We have had a very productive and successful year! said Mrs. Deloris Philley. vw .. i l i i i fff? Mrs. Bobbi MacLeod, registrar, makes a schedule change using the new computi terminal. Driver's Education teaching responsible drivers Driver's Education keeps on bringing in the students. Although there is only one teacher instructing the course this year, students have an opportunity to choose behind-the-wheel training as well as classroom training. Mr. Scott Burdette teaches the class and is assisted by Mr. lde, Mr. Frost and Mr. Moore, who teach behind-the-wheel training. Students in Driver's Education are taught how to drive first by classroom instruction. Class instruction includes 12 simulator hours, three hours of physical behind-the-wheel driving and classroom studies in a workbook, The simulators have all the aspects ot a car except for the body, and while in the so-called car, the students watch a movie, teaching and testing the physical and mental aspects of driving. Art. . . strives for excellence This year has been a good one in the Art Department , said Mrs. Maho- ney, department chairman. Students work on painting, drawing, weaving and many other projects in the Art Department. They also have a chance to enter their projects in art shows like the one that was held at Horizon in March. The department has a new teacher, Mrs. Bonnell. Her classes consist of Basic Design, Crafts, and Commercial Arts. Mrs. Gayla Bonneli Mr. Scott Burdette Aft Driver's Education 'iz tfwrtf-fer? . tv Q .
