Golfers svving into State The Paradise Valley l-ligh Golf Team participated in the State Golf Tournament at the Biltmore Golf Club and ended the tournament vvith a thirteenth place. Coached by lvlr. Bill Farrell, social studies teacher at PVl-lS, along with the help of Senior Captain Bob Ketterson, the golf team left the divisional tourna- ment with an outstanding third place. John Boyd, junior golfer at PV, was selected as the number one golfer in the division averaging an amazing 1.85 over par. Paradise Valley was also one of four golf teams picked to represent the Skyline Division of Golf. The Paradise Valley Golf Team practiced through- out their golfing season and competed in many games and contests to receive their hard vvon hon- ors. The PV team vvon 12 games and lost 14 games while coming in with the highest state and divisional finishes in PV history. Even though most fresh- men are familiar with rules of baseball, the freshman team spends most of the pre-sea- son going over the basics. This is for the benefit of the players themselves. During the season the team goes through the trials and tri- bulations of being baseball players. The freshman team is an important squad because they are the foundation of our varsity teams. The freshmen coach has the great responsibility of molding a group of freshmen into a well disciplined and dedicated baseball team. 235
