Construction, construction, construction . . . that's all you see around our evergrowing area. Within the last year, we have seen the completion of the Paradise Valley Mall, the Lal3elle's shopping center with Mervyns on the way. This year the Smitty's on 32 St. and Bell opened giving students a chance to go out for lunch within walking distance, that is, if they still have a lunch pass. Not only has shopping increased but the new home building rate is phenomenal. All around, you see signs of new develop- ments going up. With all this development, new transportation routes were devised and improved, adding wider and paved roads, and many new Stop signs. Besides ground transponation, the private air- port in Scottsdale industrial Park helped ease traffic, McDonald's, Denny's, Wendy's, and Arby's, to name just a few restaurants, came to the area offering students a variety for lunch and after the game munchies. It is getting to where Paradise Valley is no longer a sparse desert but a tlgriving community within itself. Even though PV has become built uri, it still has the home-town quality that happy residents want and accept. i - sv v gi ..,. 1 E pix Vw. iv F ,Q W ' We , f Z5 N' 'gif 3 ' 'a....., . i i. 3 M.. 60' ssf . makes the fashion ,, , scene 571 Sleek and sophisticated qualities and the preppy look are the fashion themes for this year. The preppy look consists of plaids, sweaters, gray flan- nel, knee-high socks and loafers, and bright colored pink and purple sweat pants and polo tops. Sporty and feminine were a terrific duo this season. Quality jeans such as Sassones were worn with cute lace blouses with tough looking boots. Casuals aren't forgotten at PV We had everything including Ocean Pacific COPA shirts, Nike sneakers, Levis bandanas and western cowboy hats. To accent the per- sonality were parrots and Ziggy shaped pins to decorate what was worn. Colorful strands of ribbons set off tiny little braids with glassy beads woven into the hair, The new wave music has also affected the clothes worn today. This type of clothing was very loud, bright, different and not matched, for example, plaid jackets with hot pink pants, black ties and dark glasses. This new wave brought a change in hair colors to green, blue and orange styles.
