The Varsity girls' softball team ended its season in a three-way tie for first place with Sunnyslope and Moon Valley. Each team had a league record of 5-3. Since only the top two teams from each division go to Divisionals, a playoff game was required. They lost their playoff game to Moon Valley eliminating their chance to go to divisionals. Overall the girls had a 6-8 record. Karey Guild struck out a total of seventy-five batters and ha earned run average of 3.87. Erica Storms ende season with the highest batting' average of .405. I was pleased with the season we hadg the worked hard throughout the whole season, st Miss Sondra Angleton, varsity coach.

Hard work and dedication is what girls' basket- ball team is about. Every day after school from 2:30-5:00, the basketball team practices running, drills, offensive and defensive moves. Mr. Leon Quackenbush is the coach for this year's varsity team. He is presently teaching at Deer Valley Jr. High School. This is his fourth year coaching this team at Paradise Valley. The starting line consisted of Erica Storms, Mitzy Haff, Tammy Leach, Carol Johnson and Suzanne Picerno. After winning first place last year at the Skyline Division at Xavier, the team hustled a lot harder because most of the players had graduated. The basketball tournament forthe Varsity team was March 18-21. I really think this year's JV team has it harder because the majority of the players are Freshmen and two upperclassmen, and must do a good job in order to succeed, said Ms. Sondra Angleton, coach of the JV team. This was her first year coaching the JV girls' basketball team. - LL-1 5 F to + Rigs Wi K d i was 2, M 5 ' Q W X LL i . .. K .. Y' me gs. Qi X K K K K :ET F A A X tithlsi . .. S ... S si S 4 .
