They spent tour days learning cheers, chants and spirit ideas. They won the highest possible awards, receiving all superior ribbons, the creative award and the spirit stick. To relax from their exhausting week, they spent the last day at the beach. The fourteen girls were very busy this summer doing other cheery events, practicing at 7 in the morning, painting signs, selling candles and help- ing out at spirit day. The girls raised money to buy new uniforms by running clinics for Desert Shadows and Greenway Middle Schools. Leadership and confidence were added to the line when Mrs. Vicky Prunty sponsored the girls this year. She was dedicated, attending all the cheer activities, games and practices. Mrs. Prunty is a Special Education teacher. HAH HAH HAH HAH HAH HAH HAH Junior Varsity Cheer: Top to Bottom: Joy Rivera, Cara Winkler, Teresa Sims, Dorene Figeroa. The Trojans, despite their win- loss record, never lost their pride and always played like winners, said Coach Ron Barelaf' Because of the loss of players to Horizon High School the Varsity team was less in numbers. The loss of players did not affect the perform- ance ofthe team. lt gave each player more playing time and a better chance to improve his athletic skills. The Trojans opened their season with an overwhelming 36-6 win over the newly formed Horizon Huskies. The Varsity team finished up the season with a 2-7-1 win-loss record. The record does not reflect the talent and strength of the team. The games were hard fought and no player gave until. the referee. blewgthe closing whistle.
