Pop Ensemble Members: Kay Yeary, Jerry Erven, Vessa Mathus, John Haynes, Rich Meek, Sue MacDonald, Dan Remmington, Laurie Ohlson. The Paradise Valley High School Con- cert Choir has made over twelve appear- ances during the 1980-81 school year. The Concert Choir students were selected for this group by Choir Director Larry Wittig after an audition. The stu- dents in this group must sign a perform- ance agreement before entering the organization. The Concert Choir is made up of 30 students and perform in events including school concerts, senior citi- zens' concerts and conventions. Other choral organizations at PVHS are the Madrigal Choir and the Pop Ensem- ble. The PVHS Madrigal Choir is made up of 16 students who practice on their own time. Madrigal performed at the Northern Arizona University Madrigal Festival and the State Solo and Ensemble Festival along with other activities. The eight member PVHS Pop Ensem- ble is an organization that also practices tor their performances on their own time. Pop Ensemble appearances during the year have included many community Christmas performances and concerts for senior citizens. 189

Musicians . earn honors Students in the bands and choirs at Paradise Valley High School performed before judges at the end ot January for posi- tions in the North Central Regional Band, Choir and Orchestra. Twenty-one out of the 23 stu- dents who tried out were selected to perform in these organizations during a concert at the end ot February. Representation from Paradise Valley included band members Debbie Giordano, Lori Mazza, Thomas Johnson, Shelly Ald- rich, David Bulkely and Kevin LaMountain, and orchestra members Colleen Mahoney and Brook DeWalt.
