Ski Club Most clubs at Paradise Valley High School are not affected by the weather but unfortunately the ski club was this year. They scheduled several different trips to Sunrise, Purgatory and Brianshead but lack of snow caused cancellation of most of these trips. Plenty of snow was the hope of ski club members as the last two trips to Brianshead and Sunrise approached. The sponsors are Ms. Shirley Andro, Miss Karen Roberts Mr. Ron Klamback and Mr. Bobby Johnson. lt has been a disappointment because of the lack of par- ticipation. lt's depressing to cancell trips, was Miss Roberts feelings about this year's ski season. v ,sw gg .gs gs i -v Z' ... . Chess and Bridge Although some students think that the games of chess and bridge are the only games played during Chess and Bridge Club meetings, this does not hold true. Along with chess and bridge, members also played such games as Tvvix. These games involve the use of geome- tric, electronic and mechanical divisons. In bridge one must reinforce strict game rules which deal with one's conduct in life. There is a direct relationship to vvhy we have to do things in math. The club had competed in tournaments with Shadow Mountain and Horizon. Stu- dents start out playing simple games and work their way up to ones that are more complex. This year's sponsors were Mr. Sam Pol- vino and Mr. Joe Vandenoever. People who do well in chess and bridge usually do well in other mathematical areas, said Mr. Vandenoever, club co-sponsor. Mike Murphy and Michael Fournier deeply concentrate on the next chess move. Chess and Bridge: Mr. Vandenoever, co-sponsor, John Szychovvski, Mr. Polvino, co-sponsor, Frank Straka, Michael Four- nier, Bobert Smith, Mike Murphy.
