Vocational Industrial Clubs of America Industrial Cooperative Education CICEJ and Vocational Industrial Clubs of America CVICAJ are classes in which the students enroll to better their abilities in fields such as printing, cosmetology and graphics. The students receive two credits, one tor the classroom work and one forthe job they hold after school. This year we had a new teacher, Mr. Michael Golden. Mr. Golden also teaches at Shadow Mountain High School. ICEXVICA had various ways of raising money. One of the items they sold this year was candy dishes. When asked what he thought of the ICEXVICA program, Mr. Golden replied, lt's a great pro- gram, the students can tell if they like the field they're in. VICA also has a youth program. This helps the students better learn their leadership capabilities. I feel the youth organization is a very important part of the class, commented Mr. Golden.

Home Economics Related Occupations Home Economics Related Occupations, HERO, sponsored many fund raising activites this year. They sponsored a dance after a football game, sold Halloween and Turkey grams, cookbooks, fuzzies and pretzels every Wednesday. In February HERO had a fashion show in the school cafeteria. Fourteen female and five male models from PV were chosen to model clothes from Casual Corner and Oak Tree. The chairman of the committee was Pam Deakins and the co-chairman was Vicki Karr. Kari and Ouinten from Finishing Touch coordinated models and choreography. The guest commentator was Cheryl Parker from KPNX. The PV Jazz Band played the background music. HERO students served refreshments and all profits went into the HERO Scholarship fund. lvlrs. Paulett Regan, coordinator, Pam Deakins, Kelly Dunn, Kathy Sciarillo and Heidi Ohmstedt, members, attended a convention in Denver, CO, Oct. 19, 20 and 21. There they went into various career workshops conducted by people from busi- ness and industries, competed in job skills competi- tion and toured Denver. Other conventions the club attended were the Fall Leadership Conference and the Spring State Conference, In May HERO had a Employer Banquet. Thespians is a honor club of actors and actresses said Mr. Bob Schwarz, director of the club. To get into this honorary club a student must accumulate a certain amount of points. ln order to gain points, students must attend certain plays, act in plays outside of school and participate in some way with these types of functions. Thes- pians are not only in Paradise Valley High School, but all across the world in the dif- ferent countries and schools. There are about 60 members in our school. Jon Simpson and Lisa Henson are award winners in the club for Best Actor and Best Student Stage Director. According to Mr. Schawrz, Only a cho- sen few will succeed in getting into this very honored club.
