Colleen commented, Being on the staff gave me chance to make the best memory book for 1981 After graduation Colleen plans to attend Arizona State University, majoring in public Relations. Oquguaf - Time and dedication are two of the qualifications needed to be on the Paradise Val- ley High School yearbook staff. To further their knowledge about yearbooks, several members attended the workshop at Northern Arizona University over the summer. Five of the staff members gave up one week of their summer vacation to attend the workshop. The five were Liza Acuna, Alyssa Haspel, Alan Lay, Dina MacDougaIl, and Colleen Smith. The culmination of workshop for photographers was a showing of their work at the final banquet. Dina MacDougaIl's photo placed third in the miscellaneous category. 1980-81 Staff! HERO students get rowdy before a football game. ui. in-...W Debbie Clark, left, and Sopia Auguste, right, help Chris Linert, center, campaign for State Senator during -a HERO convention. Home Economics Related Occupations Home Economics Related Occupations, HERO, sponsored many fund raising activites this year. They sponsored a dance after a football game, sold Halloween and Turkey grams, cookbooks, fuzzies and pretzels every Wednesday. In February HERO had a fashion show in the school cafeteria. Fourteen female and five male models from PV were chosen to model clothes from Casual Corner and Oak Tree. The chairman of the committee was Pam Deakins and the co-chairman was Vicki Karr. Kari and Ouinten from Finishing Touch coordinated models and choreography. The guest commentator was Cheryl Parker from KPNX. The PV Jazz Band played the background music. HERO students served refreshments and all profits went into the HERO Scholarship fund. lvlrs. Paulett Regan, coordinator, Pam Deakins, Kelly Dunn, Kathy Sciarillo and Heidi Ohmstedt, members, attended a convention in Denver, CO, Oct. 19, 20 and 21. There they went into various career workshops conducted by people from busi- ness and industries, competed in job skills competi- tion and toured Denver. Other conventions the club attended were the Fall Leadership Conference and the Spring State Conference, In May HERO had a Employer Banquet.
