Juniors prepare for the future What preparations are you making tor your senior year and your future? Wendy Frey: I have taken certain classes to prepare me for colIege. Brook DeWalt: I'm taking courses to get me into college. Sue Westby: I plan on taking Merchandising my senior year and then going to Plaza 3 to learn how to be a Purchasing agent. Joy Rivera: I'm taking classes that l'll need for college and to graduate. Alan Lay: Making sure I have enough credits and taking classes pertaining to my career. Sherry LaMountain: Taking classes to be a social worker and SCC for a degree in Sociology. Debbie Keulling: I took as many business classes as I could this year so I only have to take the required classes next year and get out early to work. Foreign exchange student finds life in U.S. different Kaori Nomura, junior, is this year's foreign exchange student from Japan. Kaori Nomura at Paradise Valley but will not receive any credit towards her graduation in Japan, which means she will have to take her junior year over when she returns home. Kaori's school is much different from American schools. ln Japan they attend classes Monday through Satur- day and must wear school uniforms where we wear everyday casual clothes. l-ler way of life, her diet and clothing had changed drastically once she came to the US., making it hard for her to adjust. ln Japan she usually wore Kimonos but here she wears mostly jeans. ln Japan she eats rice but here she eats all kinds of American foods. Kaori's favorite is Mexican food, especially tacos. ln Japan a teenager has to be 18 years old to drive and 18 years old to smoke. The foreign exchange program allows a student from a foreign country to come to the United States to live for a school year and for US. students to visit other countries.
