C' klahomaw reflects feeling of men Put more of a feeling into it. Bring down the scrim lights and bring the upstage lekos to half. Shouts such as these were often heard at rehearsals of the spring musical, Oklahoma, by the directors, Mrs. Ellen Fitzpatrick and Mr. Bob Schwarz in an attempt to keep the rehearsals and the technical end of the play caught up with itself so that everything would be ship-shape by the opening night, The charismic characters of Aunt Eller, Curly, Laurey, and all the others were por- trayed in all their shining glory. Everything involved in the westward movement, the open prairies, the buckboards. the small towns and of course the American Pioneer were all shown in a fantastic way. Besides all the work put into the play by the actors and actresses, hundreds of hours of work went into the producton of the musical by the people backstage whose job was making and painting the sets, creating sound effects, setting and running the lights and putting on the make up. All in all, time, and of course talent is what holds a play together and keeps it run- ning. g.,,L,,.f' w-we-f9'WF l. Jamie Gmeiner and Wayne Teeters portrayed the love-stricken couple of Laurey and Curly. 2. A willingness to be involved and a capability to make sacrifices in one's personal life are needed for even a chorus part. Here, Missy Fox, Birgitta Ljungquist, Brenda Mosher, and Suzzanne Blaum seriously study the music written by Rogers and Hammerstein. 3. Kelly Christopher acts as a model for the make up crew before the big opening night. 4. Debby Rosenthal takes a studious glance at Jamie Gmeiner as she rehearses for her part as Laurey. 5. Jon Simpson and Wayne Teeters rehearse a scene which requires a complete control of concentration. 4 K
