l, 1. i W, ,, lt . g Jia . ,,,, . Y X V '- 51 'PGS I fwxxn' Representatives for Boys' State were Bob Short. Glenn Orsted, James Gomez. Not pictured is Billy Dunn who transferred to another school. Girls' State was an unforgettable experience. I learned about government in a fun way and made many friends, said Senior Lynn Meyer. Lynn, along with Jody Lanese and Kim Kahlow, were the representatives for June 1979 Girls' State which took place at the University of Arizona in Tucson. Girls' and Boys, State are week-long govemment workshops in which representatives from every high school in Arizona establishes a ficticious state. They form cities, countries, politi- cal parties and run for offices. There were also guest speakers, pep rallies, congressional and judicial sessions, a song fest, a talent show and a big awards banquet on the last night. Lynn won the Outstanding City Citizen Award and held the Office of Patriotism Commissioner. Jody was on the County Board of Representatives. The representatives from Paradise Valley for Boys, State, at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, were James Gomez, Glenn Orsted, Bob Short and Billy Dunn. Jim held the office of County Constable which deals with summoning people to appear in court. Glenn was the City Attorney and Bob was on the Election Board. Glenn said, I leamed how hard government systems really are and I enjoyed myself toof, hill, Jody Lanese, Kim Kahlow and Lynn 'L Meyer were the representatives for 'ii Girls' State. 27

A mixture of skits, drama, music, and comedy were put together in one play on the nights of Friday. November 30. and Saturday. December l. when the Drama Dept. presented You are a Good Man. Charlie Brown! The play was organized and directed by Mr. Robert Schwarz. Mr. Schwarz said that this certain play was chosen because they planned to take it to Elementary Schools through out the Valley and also to Prescott for entertainment. He also said, Although the play is a dramatic, musi- cal comedy, the set is easy to move from place to place. Mr. Schwarz said. The cast really did an excellentjob of playing their parts. they really let out the spirits of the play. Approximately 100 hard hours were put into rehearsing and the back- ground of the play. The play was an absolute success, we had great audiences each night. said Mr. Schwarz. l. Patty tCherylin Moorel. Schroeder tTom Johnsonl. Snoopy Hon Simpsonl. Charlie Brown tDavid Cechj, Linus tPat Shinnj. and Lucy tKelly Shawl all sing before the upcoming baseball game. 2. lt's past suppertime and Snoopy howls at Charlie Brown for being late with his dinner. 3. Schroeder. Lucy, Linus, and Patty all gaze toward the stars wondering what they are. 4. Snoopy pays no atten- tion to Charlie Brown's realization that the little red-headed girl is human. 5, Waiting for a rabbit to appear. Snoopy looks up and sniffs around. 6. Lucy tells Patty about her new dress as Charlie Brown hides from the little red-headed girl. and misses the ball. ,. X . . . , . . 7. The gang is waiting for the hit that will win the game but Charlie Brown swings
