The Paradise Valley Girls' Basketball team was defi- nitely one of the teams to beat with a number of return- ing veterans from last year with a 22-3 season record. Because of this, there was reason to be optimistic, said Mr. Leon Quackenbush, teacher at Deer Valley Junior High and 3rd year of coaching girls' basketball. The girls' basketball team had a successful season this year. Shelley Brower, lst team all division from last year. led the team with returning starters Claudia Fini- cal and Mitt Haff. Erika Storm and Lisa Gray provided additional valuable experience to team. The toughest opponents for the team were Washing- ton, Apollo and Moon Valley. The girls practice every day from 2-5pm or 5-8pm. They did running, drills. offensive and defensive moves to be ready for all their games. We had a lot of hustlers who had the desire to win and we did our best to show our strength. said Betsy Monroe, Junior Varsity player. 3 is W. uf ni J i 1 g is I Junior Erika Storms shoots the ball towards the basket while Mitz Haff.
