With eleven of the seventeen members of the squad being returning letter- men, head coach Ron Barela felt very optimistic in stating the team goals for this season. To go undefeated in dual meet competition, to win the Skyline Divisional Championship and to place in the top ten in the state meet were some of the goals for 1980. 5 This year's team was strong in every area but especially in the field events. i I Outstanding fielders included Dan Goodman and Jim Camp, shot put and discus, Rick Burnside and Jim Biederman, Pole Vaultg and Tom Martin and Denis Teed in the longjump. i The running events were led by Jim Biederman, Denis Teed and Tom A Martin in the sprints and by Dave Moravek and Jim Prescott in the distance events. Hurdlers Jon Taylor and Jay Spendley also contributed to the relay W events. When asked about his goals for next year Coach Barela said that he hopes to have a group of young men to work with each year, like the great bunch I had this year. I . 0 if sf lil...
