We are the mighty, mighty white, yeah, we are the mighty. mighty red, cheers the I979-l980 cheerline under the supervi- sion of Miss Karen Foisel. The line spent a busy summer, trav- eling all the way to San Diego, California, to attend cheer camp. The line brought home 60 Blue Ribbons, the Spirit Stick and the highest award. the Superior Trophy. Other summer activities included early morning practices, carwashes, bake sales, and selling litterbaskets and pitchers. During school the line participated in and ran the assemblies, sold candybars and spirit ribbons, made good-luck notes and breakthroughs, kidnapped the players, sponsored a clinic for Desert Shadows cheerleaders and danced to Dim all the Lights at the annual pom-cheer switchoff. Being on cheer the past three years has really made high school fun and rewarding. I don't regret one minute of it- not even all the summer carwashes. l'm really going to miss cheer- ing at P.V. next yearf, said Tama Bisbee. senior cheerleader. Pom Pon line' R cw.-.A D ' This summer the 1979-80 pom line, under the supervision of Mrs. Sue Quackenbush, attended camp in Santa Barbara, Cali- fornia where all their hard work and practice paid off. At camp the girls learned individual dances which they used for compe- tition and won 63 superior and 4 excellent ribbons. For earning such a high number of superior ribbons, they received a Superior Trophy. They also won a spirit stick and a 2nd place placque for the dance they performed entitled, Ely's Coming, The awards did not stop hereg this was only the beginning. The Paradise Valley Pom Line was honored with bringing home the United Spirit Award. This is a very special award because only l is given out. During football season the pom line performed many differ- ent routines such as Manhattan Skyline, He's the Wizard and lf my Friends Could See Me Now. The pom line did dif- ferent types of dances for basketball season. They did a dance to Soul Man and wore sunglasses to look KOOL and did a skit-dance to 'LA Very Strange Medley where they acted out their parts.
