Administrators Contribute to Successful Year Dear Students: Even though we have experienced some building setbacks this year, it has been a very positive year. Of course, we started by having an outstanding football season, and at this writing, we have also claimed a State Championship in girl's softball and divisional winners in wrestling. Our jazz band took top honors at the N. A. U. jazz Festivalg our band also took many honors as did our Drill Team. Our band's feature twirler was number one in the State--a two year state champion. Also our wrestling team took second in the state. It was the best showing P. V. has ever had in wrestling. We ranked higher than the national average and the Arizona Average on our American College Testing QACTD scores. Several of our Senior boys were nominated for the military academies. Our choir is rated one of the finest in the state and will go to Europe this summer. The Student Union is holding its own, now that the repairs of the warped floor have taken place. A new attitude is developing--students are getting their furniture, activity games, etc. --a personal pride is taking over. The Commercial Department has been almost all completely renovated- -much to the happiness of everyone. A major thrust is taking place on campus to renovate some of the areas and to em- bellish the premises. Several vocational programs made their appearance on campus this yearg namely, I. C. E. Program, Commercial Arty Home Mechanics, Vocational Auto Blockg Radio! T. V. 3 Vocational Welding. The following courses are proposed for next year: Amer- ican Industry Capstone Project, Auto Body Finishing Techniques, Exploring Industrial Cooperative Education, Foundry and Welding, Photography, Vocational Auto Body and Refinishing Block, Vocational Photography Block, Vocational Plastics Block, Vocation- al Refrigeration and Heating Block, Vocational Technical Illustration Block, Vocation- al Upholstery Block. Even though we lost approximately 1, 000 students to Shadow' Mountain and we had approximately 100 students graduate at mid-year, we still have an enrollment of over 2, 300 students. The overall reaction that I get from the faculty and students is It's the best year I've experienced since I've been at Paradise Valley. I'm sure that the students have been a contributing factor--they're a great and bunch rekindle your faith in youth and in America. Sincerely, fQ..6C Dr. Chris B. Carrino, Principal
