Two Students work toward improving their team's score in a P. E. class soccer game. 58 4 Although the number of students in the school has dropped the number of students taking Physical Education hasn't. As a matter of fact, the number taking the Health Classes has increased, stated Mr. Charles Baker, Physical Education Department chairman. PE has a variety of classes from which girls may choose, ranging from Advanced Gymnastics and dance for girls who have taken PE before, through Advanced PE for upper- classmen to beginning PE for freshmen and those who have never taken a PE course before. Freshman boys have Introduction to Boys PE and Advanced PE for upperclassmen. Athletes have a new class offered to them called Athletic Training to help them improve their skills in the sport in which they are participating. Injuries received in a sport may also be checked in this class. Health Education, taught by Mr. Anders, is offered in the PE department. It is offered to all students and teaches them about their bodies, both mentally and physically, and also explains the use and effect of drugs on the body. The double expansion of class size shows that student interest has also expanded in Health. 3 P.E. Curriculum Uffers Coach Roy Muller watches as his students practice wrestling moves.
