Students Discover World Beyond Classroom Q' W .ig I dv? Junior Bill Bruin adjusts the focus on the department's new six inch reflector telescope, which is to be used for star gazing sessions. Biology student Rod Topel checks instructions before beginning his experiment. Although only one year of science is required, this department has much to offer anyone who stays longer. There are 14 different classes from which to choose and a variety of interests to pursue. Classes range from three levels of Earth Science to Physics, Chemistry and Ad- vanced Placement Biology. Also included are geology, ecology, biogeography and space science. Many innovations have been made to further the learning process and the department has also acquired several new pieces of equipment, which it hopes will enable students to probe subjects in much geater depth. These new additions include a 55 gallon aquarium, several biological models, a reflector telescope and a very impressive Sl, 500 phase contrast micro- scope, with which students can actually take pictures and movies of the specimens they are viewing. Accordingto Mr. James Heinrichs, department chairman, This school's equip- ment and facilities exceed even those in some of the colleges around the state. as Q V 'V li Eg, X if 1 Y Xi l S . is f,.
