After a tribute to the past . . . .fd afoot' .gnto jbe juture CLASS PROPHECY OF 1955 Not too many years ago there were pioneers who lived mostly by intestinal fortitude, people very much like you and me, except for one difference, and that is education. Those people were brave indeed, but today we need to be even braver. Not alone with honor, integrity and courage till the bill lor a growing. complex nation lilce ours, but a broad and intense education planned and geared to the ever in- creasing pace ot lite that is being set belore the leaders ol tomorrow. lt is because ol this rapid change that Paradise will soon no longer be Paradise High. instead a new school will soon come to be -1 The Pequea Valley Consolidated High School. The people who sponsored this new school are truly the pioneers ot today. So l talce the privilege ot thanlcing them lor their dedication and foresight. For they gave to us, to me and my classmates, a better toot hold to become the men and women who may be the leaders of tomorrow. We will be proud and honored to be among the first to graduate under the new school system, and the last seniors to occupy the old school building. This will be a very special graduation that should not be forgotten. l write this prelace to the prophecy because l feel that the improvements made will have a definite impression on the lutures ot my classmates. CLASS OF 1955 As l enter my school for the last time as a student, l thinlc how it had made us more wise and prudent. l thinlc ol my classmates, and wonder what they will all be alter graduation. Their dreams of their own lite, and maturity will come most assuredly. Therevs Elvin Kreider, our class president, an engineer-to-be, and lvlargaret Steinman, a nurse in medical surgery. Here reading a bool: is Glenn Fisher, he will be an economist, and loolcing over his shoulder is .losel Liebig: hell be an agronomist. There tallcing to a school musician is lVlary Vvilcerg she will be a beautician. Clustered around are Ethel Miller, Anna Harsh, and Ann Gregg, who will be beauticians, too. Whoss Fred Fisher tallcing to? l thinlc Fred will be an accountant belore he is through. Robert Shaubach is tallcing to Fred. Robert will be a butcher by trade. And loolcing on is Kenneth Vviseg a physicist of him will be made. As each class member comes into view, oh - oh there's Esther Gravesg she and Mary Lou Haldeman will be United States Navy Waves. Over by the door is Norma Probstg she will be a slcating instructor. Daryl Lichty as a carpenter will be a building constructor. Ellen Yohn and Jane Feister both will be medical secretaries. They will be helping future doctors, lilce Rosa Lee Franlc, to fight diseases ol different varieties. Wilbur Rohrer will be out West as a rancher. Elva Rowe will be a school teacher: lor her dreams there is found an answer. June Hershey, a future brain surgeon at Byberry, is tallcing to Dorothy Hersh, a luture secretary. As an auto mechanic James Rynier will his career start, and so will Dale Rice. Ray Leaman, and Wilmer Burkhart. James Emericlc will set his cap to be an engineer, and Alpha Yoder will be a farmer and worlc a farm close by here. Ronald Burlcholder will tix car bodies and lenders: Violet Grolt will be a singer in all ot her splendor. Walter Koch, a future Diesel electric engineer, is tallcing to Priscilla Keneagy, an interior decorator. And there is Donald High. a business manager and financier. Over there, loolcing out the window, is James Eby, a future electronics engineer. All these students l have seen, have been quiet and sincere, because they lmow that soon from this school they must go. Gut into the world that seems to be very cold, they will march straight and bold. For new goals they will now try to achieve, and a new and wonderful lile is out there lor them to receive. If they use wisely the lmowledge they have obtained in our school hall. a success will become of them all. Written anal Compiled by Josef Vvilhelm Liebig.
