With a deep sense of satisfaction, we, the Board of Education, are pleased to extend to each of you in the class of '53 our heartiest congratulations. You have completed the established course in our school system and we are conhdent that each of you will be able to find your place in this ever-changing world. Paradise Township is rightly proud of the youth graduated from its High School. We can look with pride on the hue scholastic records attained by those of our Alumni who have entered various colleges in the past. lt is diflicult to enumerate or to sum up the vast accomplishments and high achievements of our graduates who have passed through these portals and have gone onward and upward to new heights of success. Nevertheless, it is easy enough to reason that because of them this com- munity is a better place in which to live. So, we trust that you, too, will bc able to go forth to meet the challenge that will confront you in this great day of opportunity. You have our best wishes for a happy and successful life. BOARD OF EDUCATION Sur edifdge FROM OUR SUPERVISING RINCIPAL You, the members of the graduating class, have reached an important milestone in your lives. This is an important time for you. It is also equally important for your schoolmates, your parents and your friends. The interest of the whole community is centered around your Commencement and rightly so, for the schools represent the largest investment in this community. The community has made an investment of dollars and cents in you and they are eager to wish you well in this graduation season. To everyone of you is given a life to be lived. You want to do your best and make the most of it. The big question that confronts you is how to accomplish the most with the energies, the powers, and the talents at your command. Of course, life is large and short. It is impossible to grasp all of its meaning at once, so you must make your choice, you must choose. It becomes necessary to pick out the vital and essential things of life, and to cast aside those things not essential. This may seem easy now, but as time goes on, the world will not prove to be the same as it seemed in the quiet surroundings of your high school career. Life becomes harder to handle than you once thought. Theories fail. It is the hope of your faculty that your school has helped you develop the talents which are yours, and has helped you to recognize your own capabilities. It is the hope of your teachers that you have been inspired to seek your goal to the best of your ability. No one can ask or expect you to do better. It is a good plan to let go of pretense, worry, discontent and self-seeking if you would make the best of your life and substitute work, friendship, love, faith and understanding. Glory, fame, and renown are to be sought, but may not always be captured. Worry not about the acclaim of the crowds. Your best judge is yourself. When you are pleased with your real self, when you can tell yourself that you have done the best that you can with the talents that you have, then you have conquered your frontier. Someone has aptly and beautifully said: Life is the mirror of king and slave, 'Tis just what we are and so, Then give to the world the best you have, And the best will come back to you. Steadiecl by the experience of your parents and friends and guided by their counsel and careg equipped with the training which our school has endowed you with, clothed in the faith and trust of youth, with all the enthusiasm and vigor that belongs to the young, may you go forth into the world and find all the happiness, success, and the realization of all the dreams you have held thru the years, Congratulations and good luck to you upon reaching your graduation. May your hope be high as you go forth into life. ARTHUR W. ESHELMAN, Supa. Priu. Seven FACULTY ARTHUR W. ESI-IELMAN Elizabethtown College-B. S. Columbia University-M. A. While I was trying desperately to get back on Beam 53, a cloud of smoke and a noise out of this world passed me like a falling star. Then in a moment the smoke cleared and the Space Ship Chevy was revealed. I saw a little old driver so lively and quick, and knew in a moment it must be Dick. After following Dick to Mars, I stopped him to reminisce about our school days. I asked him if he knew the occupations and whereabouts of the Class of '53. Since he was top Space Cadet of the day, he was well versed in this field. This is what he related to me: Raymond, Henry, and Fred are playing professional football at University of the Milky Way located on Saturn. They had the honor of being chosen All Americans last year. Donna and Sara are leading domestic lives and by all accounts, are kept busy with their families. Nancy models in New York and is engaged to marry Robert Tiller, the famous movie actor. Bill, our sailor, is making the Navy, where he has become the head of the Naval Reserves, his life-time job. judy and Patsy are now teachers at Paradise High School. Judy is the secretarial science teacher and Patsy is head of the mathematics department. Donald has established an American dancing school in Paris. He is teaching the mademoiselles of Paris the Bunny Hop and the Charleston . I Willard is the World's Champion hot rod Racer. He is now making a tour over the universe. julia and- Janice, law partners, just won the most important case in history. The case was Bob Hope vs. Alan Brown. Hope was stealing Alan's jokes so Alan brought suit against Bob. Dale, an established contractor, has rebuilt the White House. The President allowed him to plan and build according to his own judgment. ' Margaret is president of Hubley's Toy Factory where she is directing the production of a gun that shoots ice. During a world series game, john, our umpire, was involved in an argument, but knowing john, you can guess who won the argument. Clara is now in Africa serving as a secretary to the famous evangelist, Billy Graham. Everett, a famous conductor at Carnegie Hall, presented 12 concerts in the past week. Mildred is now happily married to a lawyer and often assists him with some cases, using her knowledge of law obtained at PHS. Elva jean is training to be a nurse, but as a side line she sells greeting cards. Florence is teaching departmentalized 7th and Sth grades. She had previous experience with 8th graders prior to her graduation from Paradise. Pauline and Marian are secretaries to important statesmen in Washington, D. C. Pauline is employed by the Secretary of State and Marian by the Secretary of Defense. Pearl Louise owns a stand at the local market where she sells rare herbs. Finding all accounts favorable, I continued my Hight into space. Signing aj, I am jackie, Youa Caour.
