Dedication We proudly dedicare the 1974 PANTHER to Mr. Earl Tate, who is not just a superintendent, but a friend to the students, the teachers, the parents, and every citizen of this community. He has gone many miles, written many letters, made many calls - all on his own time - to help a student obtain a scholarship, enter college, find a job, or receive recognition for academic achievement. Mr. Tate's dedication to education has involved him in many other worthwhile activities. He is now State President of the Texas Small School Association. He is a member of the Texas Association of School Adminis- trators, the American Association of School Administrators, Texas State Teachers Association, the Legislative Council of U.I.L., Region II-B, Committee for the Revision of Bulletin 679 (School Accounting Manual), Region XI, Education Service Center Committee for Crime Prevention and Drug Education, and a member of the Texas State Council of the National Beta Club. We sincerely appreciate his untiring efforts to make Paradise, not only a better school, but also a better com- munity.

a Foreword As ihe clock swiftly ticks away the moments of out final year in high school, we pause and look back over our activities and attempt to evaluate our successes and failures. We think of the thrilling moments of discovering new truths and new ideas in our academic studies, the sheer pleasure of competition in the field of sports, and the fun we have had with our classmates and friends. Then we look ahead to the world that lies stretched out before us and ponder the path that each of us will take. We sincerely hope that the memories that are portrayed on the pages of the 1974 PANTHER will be an inspira- tion to all of us in the future as we attempt to accomplish our various goals. Superintendent’s Message Before each of you stand two doors - success and failure. You have the power to open the door of your choice. Your success cannot be guaranteed by the school. It must come from within by proper attitudes and motiva- tions. Hopefully the school, along with the home and the church, will play a part in your development. All these Institutions wish you every measure of success, if you will work at your highest level of ability, aspire for worthwhile goals, and present yourselves favorably before others in appearance and conduct, then success can- not be denied you. In other words, what you become in life is what you, from within, are determined to become. Seniors, may God bless you all and direct your steps. Earl Tate, Superintendent
