PARADISE SCHOOL PARADISE, TEXAS FOREWORD We have attempted to present the 1970 PANTHER as a minor, reflecting for a brief moment each student in his respective place - in class and on the campus. As each student observes his reflection, may he detect school spirit, a sense of pride in his work, good sportsmanship in his play, a respect for law and order, and a love foe his home, school, church, community, and country. Only the observer can conscientiously Interpret his reflected image. We extend our thanks and appreciation to the. faculty, students, parents, and advertisers through whose combined efforts the publication of this yearbook was made possible. THE ANNUAL STAFF IN MEMORIAM We, the Senior Class of 1970, solemnly dedicate THE PANTHER to the memory of Mrs. Othella Carson, one of our beloved and retired teachers, and David Harold Dickinson, a member of the 1909 Eighth Grade Class. Mrs. Carson contributed many years of unselfish devotion and untiring service to the field of education. She taught here at Paradise from 1952 to 19S8. Her sincerity, interest in young people, and dedication to her pro- fession will long be remembered by the faculty, her many friends, and especially by the many pupils who sa: in her classes. MRS. OTHELLA CARSON David entered the first grade at. Paradise and was a former pupil of Mrs. Carson. He was an inspiration, not only to his classmates and his teachers, but also to everyone who knew Mm and loved His youthful dreams and ideas were projected into his classwotk, and his spirit, his energy, and Ms enthusiasm were reflected in Ms participation in sports and other school activities. The school atmosphere certainly seems to be relaxed and pleasant. I would like to remind you that the fine school we have at Paradise is really yours because without you there would be no school. With this thought in mind determine that bn your part Paradise is, and will continue to be, the finest school any- where. The school will be what you make it to be.
