Elmer Johnson The Senior play, Smile, Rodney, Smile , was presented on March 20th, Rodney Bradley, who is to inherit his father's- estate when becoming of age,arrives at the big castle, but is unexpectedly driven away by his Uncle Bruce Bradley due to Rod's unwillingness to marry Mr, Brad- ley's stepdaughter, Virginia. Mr. Bxadley has a quiet talk with Rod and makes a deal with him, Rod must prove to his Uncle that he does not even possess a friend, not even those he brings along from the city, or he will be obligated to marry Virginia. Rod proves his point to his Uncle very success- fully, but in the meantime he has fallen deeply in love with the supposed maid to the princess, Virginia Roslyn, whom he has known to be Miss Virginia Koogle- heimer. All turns out well and Rod is no longer angry with Virginia because she has deceived him. Hazel Long, tho only child of a backwoods farmer,is tired of country life but her parents refuse to move to the city, bccauso of a rock quarry they own on their farm. Hazel meets Richard Biltmore, a stranger from the city. They fall desperately in love but to complicate matters the Long's maid falls for Richard, and the fun begins. Richard calls to sec Hazel in informal at- tire to find the family decked out in out-dated formal attire. The neighborhood gossip calls and the evening becomes a scream. Next morning the maid and Richard are miss- ing. Richard returns, howevfer, in time to save the old home and marry Hazel. Minnie marries Dave, and this gives Lizzie and Hank an idea.
