For others it is over for always. It is a memory now the first real memory of a young life At first you will remember only the hard work and disillusionment. You will remember the cherished thoughts and fan cies that were shattered by the force of reason and fact. You will remember mo ments of sadness and moments of despair You will remember the dances you could not attend and the parties to which you were not invited. You will remember the games you lost and the quiet, lonely dress ing rooms. You will remember the dress you could not afford to buy and the phone that did not ring. You will remember that your friend in today's triumph was not always your friend in tomorrow's defeat You will remember that it seemed so diffi cult to plan for the future, when the future seemed so immense and your ability so small. Time and life will change your memories of school. Soon you will remember your days in school as an enchanted time. You will remember quiet laughter, countless friends, and the moments you felt you could do anything and be anything you wanted. School will be a memory of your favorite song, your first date, dances in the school gymnasium, the boy who did call, and the girl who was too good and too beautiful to be true. You will remember school as a place where you always he longed, where you always were wanted It will be the sum of the happy days, from kindergarten to the Senior Prom. School will become that ageless memory of your graduation ceremony with your loved ones sitting in the front row Your memory is brighter because you begin the tradition of graduation in Para dise High School. Other classes may be larger or achieve more, but you were the first. There is honor and pride and respon sibility in beginning a tradition In home, church, and school you have been shown the way to a happy, successful, and good life. What your life becomes will be the result of your own determina- tion and God's will. Vaya con Dios-Go with God. If 47 fs 45 ff 'a 'I Lrg I 1 , ClmCQT4QVw 1 Xf 5 SQWQVS 7 As you turn through the pages of this year's Argo you will notice many new things have been added. You will notice that this year's annual is dedicated to the Senior Class, our first Senior Class. The Argo Sports sec- tion is bigger and better than ever before. The ad section has been enlarged and includes many pictures of students. From the start the goal of this yearas staff has been to produce a yearbook worthy of the students and administration of this school. Each year the pages of this book record the activities long-to-be-remembered by those taking part in the history of the Paradise Unified School District. The yearbook will become one of your treasured possessions, especially for those who are in the class of 1957. You will be reminded by picture and word of many pleasant and worthwhile school exper- iences you and your classmates have had. You are a part of this history. We are proud of a new chapter which has been added to the history of the Paradise Junior-Senior High School. This new chapter is the graduation of the first senior class. Along with the distinction of receiving the first diplomas of your school goes a great responsibility to yourself and your school. You will continue to make important history. You will become more responsible for making your own decisions. Wise decisions come from thought and planning. Weigh carefully all of the pertinent facts, then stick to the right decision. In the history of tomorrow your contributions to life should represent the best that you have to offer. The best is needed greatly. Best of success and happiness to each one of you as you continue in the world of the tomorrows. LOREN A. WANN Superintendent Prineipafs Message lfillxlhllx in W -sv t i v-Q., K , ..1g...n:,N. . A XX J ,KY X f 7, . '44 -me if? if- -w if NN' Q 4. flfia You have accomplished a very important goal in life as you now receive your diploma. Many of you will move on to more intensive and specialized kind of educa- tion on the college and university campuses throughout our nationg others of you will take on the challenges to be found in securing a job and raising a family. As things now stand your community has worked hard at giving you the opportunity to acquire the skills that are necessary to function effectively as an adult. There have been grand successes and jolting failures. There have been heart rendering as well as heart warming experiences. Each one of these events, we trust, has made you a stronger individualg we know they have made a better and stronger school. But your education is not finished. For you the demands to continue your intellec- tual, psychological and philosophical growth will always be present. This school has the same challenge. To be successful we need your support. We need your sincere efforts as a voter and as a parent to be certain that our schools have the finances and the qualified personnel to strengthen the strong elements and improve the poor. The adults of today have given you their best. When you become adults, carry the torch of education high and guard it well. D. A. MORRISSEY, Principal 3 i L Stirling City Principal This school year returns me to thirty years ago when I first came to the Stirling City School. The growth in our district since that time, as then Paradise had four teachers and Stirling City, five, has been more than just an increase in the number of families, and of girls and boys in Paradiseg our Unified School District today, is a faith the people in our Communities have in the young people of our area. As generations of young people in the past have been the mothers, fathers, and leaders of our great Nation, we the teachers of our children today, consider it a privilege to share in the experiences of our students in the Paradise Unified School District.
