Out of the large class they were in, only the two of them went to Paoli through- out all of their grade and high school years. When these two were in the fifth grade, in 1941, Betty Lou Powell enrolled in school at Paoli. Her parents had moved from Scoby where she had gone to school the previous five years. The following year joy Beatrice Elkins started to school at Paoli in the sixth grade. She had previously gone to Union Springs. joy was to become an outstan- ding 4-H Club member. In 1943, Kenneth Leroy Bechtel started to school here in the seventh grade. He had been attending school in Edmond. In the year of 1945 there were Z3 Freshmen in Paoli High School. By some miracle, this class escaped being initiated. In this class there were 12 students who finished their high school days together at Paoli along with those who came here later. Blanche Dell Sumner and Thomas Alvin Stephens graduated from grade school at Cross Roads and were among those Freshmen of '45. Also there was Betty Sue Whitaker from Scoby: Betty jean Ferguson, Edmona Louise Richard and James Carter Whitley from Florence Chapelg and Willy James Southwell from Randolph. During the Sophomore year of these students Albert joe McDaniel enrolled in school here. He had previously gone to school at Pauls Valley. The following year, 1946, Frances Maureen Womble and Ouida Katherine Bingham entered school here with our class as juniors. Maureen came from Hot Springs, Arkansas and Ouida came from Wynnewood. At the beginning of our Senior year, Alma Pearl Avery and Ralph Ernest Hawk became students at Paoli High. Pearl. came here from Stuart, and Ralph had been going to school at Pauls Valley. Mary Ann Riley is also a Senior who will graduate this year. She has gone to Paoli all four years of High School. The Freshman sponsor of this class was Mrs. Rose Messer. ln the Sophomore year Mrs. I-Iazell Harrison was chosen to sponsor this group. As juniors, Miss Winnie Yeats was unanimously elected as sponsor to help lead this group through their junior year. Mr. J. W. Little became the sponsor in the Senior year. The entire Senior Class wishes to express their gratitude to those four sponsors, especially to Miss Yeats and Mr. Little, who led this group through their active junior and Senior years.
