a in te nance Mr. Grant Ham, Mr. Artie Perkins, and Mr. William L. Moore, our high school janitors, are three of the finest in Indiana. Besides taking care of our school, they have other interests as well. Mr. Ham has been employed here for twenty years and has four children. His youngest, Freddie , is a junior in P. H. S. Mr. Ham likes basketball very much. Mr. Perkins has been employed here for eight years, has seven children, five in school, and his hobby is also basketball. For several years he played semi-pro baseball. With the addition of a new building we needed another janitor who is Mr. William L. Moore. Mr. Moore has three children, and his hobby is playing pool. He has been with us just one year, but we think he will enjoy his part as a member of the P. H. S. family. Mr. Moore throws the switch to start operation of the new building. Mr. Ham and Mr. Perkins take time out for a few jokes. 4

MR. BILLY ABEL Mr. Billy Abel was a former Franklin College basketball star, is six FEET FOUR AND THREE QUARTERS, WEIGHT 215 POUNDS. HE IS A VERY FINE ASSISTANT COACH. His HOBBIES ARE READING AND MINDING HIS SMALL SON, BlLLY Lester. This is his first YEAR AT PAOLI , HAV I NG TAUGHT at Pekin last year. MRS. MAXINE ACHBERGER How MRS. ACHBERGER can take care of all the books IN THE LIBRARY, HER HOUSE, AND HER BEAUTIFUL TWIN GIRLS, IS MORE THAN WE CAN UNDERSTAND, But she does it, and DOES A FINE JOB, TOO. ONE OF HER HOBBIES IS COLLECTING FINES FROM OVER DUE BOOKS. MRS. RUTH ALEXANDER Alex , a graduate of De-pauw University, apparently has her hands full taking care of Charlotte, her Mercury, and her cat. Silver. That’s not all; she teaches SEVERAL CLASSES OF MUSIC AND Latin every day and always HAS A SMILE FOR EVERYONE. D. E. CHAMBERS Six-foot two, eyes of blue —THAT S OUR COACH. MR. Chambers graduated from Indiana University, and has been COACHING EVER SINCE. AT ONE TIME HIS BROWNSTOWN TEAM WAS RUNNER-UP IN THE STATE BASKETBALL FINALS. MR. FRED CROWE The Crowe family seems to BE WELL REPRESENTED IN PAOLI WITH THREE CHILDREN AS STUDENTS and Mr. Crowe as teacher. He is one of the busiest MEN IN P.H.S. A FEW OF HIS MANY IMPORTANT ACTIVITIES ARE, Hi-Y sponsor, Math and Trig TEACHER, ATHLETIC ADVISOR TO Mr. Chambers and being an all-around GOOD GUY. MISS MABEL ELLIS Next to her new Buick, Miss Ellis likes to teach History and Geography. Due to the FACT THAT SHE HAS TRAVELED THROUGHOUT THE EAST WHERE SO MANY OF THE HISTORIC EVENTS TOOK PLACE, SHE HAS SOME OF THE MOST INTERESTING CLASSES IN SCHOOL. WE DON’T KNOW WHAT Miss Ellis’s hobby is, but FROM THE LOOKS OF HER WELL-CARED-FOR LAWN AND BEAUT ITUL FLOWERS, IT MUST BE GARDENING. MRS. HOWARD ELLIS Mrs. Howard Ellis lives on A FARM NORTH OF PAOLI WITH HER HUSBAND AND DAUGHTER, Sandra. She is kept rather BUSY RUNNING FROM HER ART CLASSES IN THE HIGH SCHOOL TO THOSE IN THE GRADE BUILDING. She GRADUATED FROM BUTLER University.
