MR. BILLY ABEL Mr. Billy Abel was a former Franklin College basketball star, is six FEET FOUR AND THREE QUARTERS, WEIGHT 215 POUNDS. HE IS A VERY FINE ASSISTANT COACH. His HOBBIES ARE READING AND MINDING HIS SMALL SON, BlLLY Lester. This is his first YEAR AT PAOLI , HAV I NG TAUGHT at Pekin last year. MRS. MAXINE ACHBERGER How MRS. ACHBERGER can take care of all the books IN THE LIBRARY, HER HOUSE, AND HER BEAUTIFUL TWIN GIRLS, IS MORE THAN WE CAN UNDERSTAND, But she does it, and DOES A FINE JOB, TOO. ONE OF HER HOBBIES IS COLLECTING FINES FROM OVER DUE BOOKS. MRS. RUTH ALEXANDER Alex , a graduate of De-pauw University, apparently has her hands full taking care of Charlotte, her Mercury, and her cat. Silver. That’s not all; she teaches SEVERAL CLASSES OF MUSIC AND Latin every day and always HAS A SMILE FOR EVERYONE. D. E. CHAMBERS Six-foot two, eyes of blue —THAT S OUR COACH. MR. Chambers graduated from Indiana University, and has been COACHING EVER SINCE. AT ONE TIME HIS BROWNSTOWN TEAM WAS RUNNER-UP IN THE STATE BASKETBALL FINALS. MR. FRED CROWE The Crowe family seems to BE WELL REPRESENTED IN PAOLI WITH THREE CHILDREN AS STUDENTS and Mr. Crowe as teacher. He is one of the busiest MEN IN P.H.S. A FEW OF HIS MANY IMPORTANT ACTIVITIES ARE, Hi-Y sponsor, Math and Trig TEACHER, ATHLETIC ADVISOR TO Mr. Chambers and being an all-around GOOD GUY. MISS MABEL ELLIS Next to her new Buick, Miss Ellis likes to teach History and Geography. Due to the FACT THAT SHE HAS TRAVELED THROUGHOUT THE EAST WHERE SO MANY OF THE HISTORIC EVENTS TOOK PLACE, SHE HAS SOME OF THE MOST INTERESTING CLASSES IN SCHOOL. WE DON’T KNOW WHAT Miss Ellis’s hobby is, but FROM THE LOOKS OF HER WELL-CARED-FOR LAWN AND BEAUT ITUL FLOWERS, IT MUST BE GARDENING. MRS. HOWARD ELLIS Mrs. Howard Ellis lives on A FARM NORTH OF PAOLI WITH HER HUSBAND AND DAUGHTER, Sandra. She is kept rather BUSY RUNNING FROM HER ART CLASSES IN THE HIGH SCHOOL TO THOSE IN THE GRADE BUILDING. She GRADUATED FROM BUTLER University.

MRS. MARY HELEN KLAAS Mary Helen has Klaas , George, to be exact. Most of HER TIME IS DIVIDED BETWEEN KEEPING BOOKS FOR KLAAS TEXACO AND GRADING PAPERS. HER HOBBY IS READING, AND WE VE EVEN HEARD THAT SHE READS WITH THE BOOKS UPSIDE-DOWN IN THE SUMMER IN ORDER TO GET IN PRACTICE FOR THE SCRIBBLING OF HER SHORTHAND CLASSES. MISS MARJORIE LINDLEY Another of our home town TEACHERS IS MlSS MARJORIE Lindley who is responsible FOR ALL THE GOOD HOME MAKERS WHO COME OUT OF P.H.S. One of her achievements is THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE Paoli Chapter of the F.H.A. SHE IS ALSO MUCH INTERESTED IN PHOTOGRAPHY AND SPONSORS the Camera Club. MR. CLAUD MARSH Our industrial arts teacher HAS CERTAINLY HAD HlS HANDS FULL THIS YEAR. HE HAS BEEN IN CHARGE OF ALL THE MOVING INTO THE NEW BUILDING AND IN PREPARING THE BOTTOM FLOOR OF THE HIGH SCHOOL BUILDING FOR NEW GRADE SCHOOL CLASSROOMS. HE IS A SPONSOR of the Junior class. Outside OF SCHOOL HE DOES CARPENTRY, MR. FLOYD FANCHER Daniel Boone Fancher, as HE IS COMMONLY KNOWN AROUND school is Paoli High School s UNDISPUTED BANJO-PICKING CHAMPION, AND HE IS SEEN EVERY SATURDAY NIGHT AT THE ENGLISH SQUARE DANCE. HlS FAVORITE HOBBY IS ’COON HUNTING, TAKING HIS FAMOUS ’COON DOG. P.R. Black Suzie along. MR. C. M. FOSTER This is Mr. Foster’s first YEAR AS AGRICULTURE TEACHER IN Paoli High School and as sponsor of the F.F.A. He has taught PARLIAMENTARY PROCEDURE TO THIS organization; they are to enter A PARLIAMENTARY PROCEDURE CONTEST IN THE SPRING. HE IS MARRIED AND HAS A SMALL DAUGHTER, Sharon Kay. When he isn’t thinking up something interesting FOR HIS Ag BOYS, HE IS ENJOYING A GAME OF BRIDGE. MISS MAUD ANNA HAM Miss Ham is Paoli s Junior High English teacher; she also SPONSORS THE JUNIOR HIGH DRAMATICS Club and their paper, Jr.-High-Lites . She likes to TRAVEL AND TAKES a TRIP ALMOST EVERY SUMMER. MISS ELIZABETH JENNETT Miss jennett, of Hoopeston, III., who is in her fourth year as physical education instructor, IS INDEED A BUSY woman. She sponsors the junior class, Hillcrest, G.A.A., J.G. A., AND THE YELL LEADERS. SHE DRIVES A 46 FIVE-PASSENGER DeSoto, WHICH IS QUITE POPULAR WITH THE JUNIOR BOYS.
