Who ' s Who Not Health hut uisdom is the uay. — Schopenhauer The cream of the crop in academic, extracurricular, professional, and service achievements are this year ' s members. They include Bruce Derrick, Marcia Kramer, Patricia McGuinness, Regina McKelvey, Donald Musselman, and Milton Treiser. Student Council Democracy is the most rea- sonable form of government. — Spinoza Much of the credit for the memorable school year can be given to the Student Council. This industrious and influential body of class representatives was presided over by Donald Musselman, president. Marshalls Club . . . all things n ork togethet for good. . . . — Romans 8:28 Sharing the toil together are these members of the Mar- shalls Club who acted as guides for the college social affairs. Poge 22 Big Sisters Club As growing plants reach upward to the sun, from whence cometh their strength, so the freshman women reach upward as the guiding hands of the junior women extend forth. Under the able leadership of Emmie O ' Connell, president; Patricia McGuinness, program chairman; Regina McKelvey, secretary; and Alba Cordasco, treasurer, this club had a highly success- ful year. Glee Club Music is valuable, not only because it brings refinement of feeling and character, but also because it preserves and restores health. — Plato The songsters of the Glee Club filled the halls with music. Under the leadership of Mrs. Shepherd, this group provided the college with their services upon many oc- casions. Athletic Council A sport jar everyone, and everyone in a sport. Under the capable direc- tion of Philip Congilose, the Council president, this as- sociation provided the col- lege with an extensive ath- letic program and various informal functions. Page 23 springboard A staff of willing workers, with Mr. Dunlap as advisor, pro- duce a worthy newspaper. The combined talents of this group provided the college with news and feature articles throughout the school year. Audio-Visual Aids Club After learning the operation and care of the sound and pro- jection equipment, the members of this club provide the college with projectionists and audio- visual aid experts. Future Teachers of America It is more blessed to give than to receive. — ACTS 20:35 The members of the Future Teachers of America contribute to others in many ways. The services of this club extend be- yond the walls of the college to the community. Olympia Editorial Board On the pages of this book the Editorial Board of the Olympia presents the Panzer students with a lasting momento of the college year of 1956-1957. Science Club Man is a stranger to his own research. — Voltaire To stimulate and maintain an interest in science and research is the aim of the members of this group, who participate in discussions, field trips, and other worth-while endeavors. This year ' s squad was captained by Maxine Hines. Wo men ' s Basketball Club The women cagers engaged in an enthusiastic program of bas- ketball during their club tour- nament. Presiding over the club were Loretta Perlstein, presi- dent; Marie Cardillo, secretary- treasurer. Women ' s Officials Club at intraclub and games were the Officiating intramural whistle bearers of the Worn en ' s Officials Club. Directing the club were Miss Birilli, club advisor; Roslyn Lightfoot, pres- ident; and Patricia Oplinus, secretary- treasurer. Page 28 Bowling Club The members of this club sent pins flying at the Montclair Bowling Alleys. Men ' s Officials Club Putting their knowledge to good use, these men officiate various high school and other games. Gymnastic Club Utopia must begin in the body of man. — Plato Under the direction of Mr. D ' Autorio, member of the Unit- ed States Olympic Gymnastic Team, the future gymnasts worked hard to improve their gymnastic skills which were dis- played in the Spring Demon- stration. Page 29 Leaders Club Taking advantage of the oppor- tunity to improve and exercise their leadership abilities, these were the members of the Lead- ers Club. Mr. Lorback was the club supervisor. Tennis Club The racquet squad enjoyed themselves on the colorful after- noons, as they developed their skills under the capable instruc- tion of Mr. Morehouse. Wrestling Club The mat maulers enjoyed themselves and supplemented their knowledge of wrestling under the able supervision of Mr. Lied. Captained by Doris Nielson, the team won 1 and tied 2. Six of the team members, Gail Chesnut, Marie Blasse, Patricia McGuinness, Marie Cardillo, Sonia Davidson, and Roslyn Lightfoot, placed on the College All-State Honorary and Reserve teams. Women ' s J.V. Basketball Looking very skillful as a future varsity team, these were the members of this year ' s J.V. Basketball team. Page 33 Women ' s Varsity Basketball Looking back on a successful season, these are the cagers of this year ' s team. Cross-Country Completing one of their finest seasons in Pan2er College history were the harriers of this year ' s cross-country team. The team won all of their dual meets and placed second in the South Orange Reservation Jamboree. Bowling Team The Panzer pin men have been very successful in the past couple of years. The team was ably coached by Mr. Acocella. Captain of the team was Ernest Horvath. Page 35 Varsity Soccer Playing a hard schedule against some of the nation ' s best teams, this year ' s soccer team completed the season with a 7-4-1 record. The team was co-captained by James Menary and Robert Wolfarth. J.V. Soccer Showing great potentialities for a future var- sity team, these were the staunch men of the J.V. Soccer team. Because of their fine progress, this squad should be of considerable help to future Panzer varsity teams. The team is coached by Mr. Morehouse. Varsity Basketball The varsity basketball team, coached by Professor Goodwin, is one of the leading small- college teams in the nation. By a combination of-skill, intelligence, and smooth co-operation the team members achieve a high percentage of wins. Page 38 Baseball Panzer ' s baseball prospects for 1957 look bright. Returning lettermen will form the nucleus of the team, and the large freshman class will supply new talent. Mr. Lorback is the coach. Track and Field In the spring of ' 56 the track team, coached by Professor Goodwin, had an undefeated season in dual-meet competition.
