Brown was chosen woman of the year of Essex County by the executive council of the Women ' s Service Clubs of Essex County. This award was presented in recognition of Dr. Brown ' s contributions to teacher education in health and physical education and for services to the community and to youth. In the spring of 1953, Dr. Brown was awarded the Anderson Award for outstanding contributions to the teaching profession by the American Associ- ation for Health, Physical Education, and Recreation. On the cool autumn and spring afternoons the members of the tennis club were swinging their racquets vigorously as they combined fun with the development of skill. The effort and hard work of the many students in ihe college is often displayed at the various demonstrations and gymnastic meets. This group was captained by Edward Haberman. The tennis team had many new members this year. It was led to ano ther good season by such stalwarts as Mai Simon and Ed Haberman. Their sportsmanship and playing ability were shown in every contest. Our baseball team this past year showed a preponderance of newcomers, but their ability was shown as they skillfully functioned as a unit to have a successful season. Qlrnas (Hountrg ® am Although only in Panzer College for luo years, this sport has caught fire. The team has been quite successful and is proud to boast a fine record. Inmltug ® am Every week this skilled group of howlers were seen pr acticing their strikes at the Palladium Alleys in Orange. Under the direction of Mr. ashnik, and jiossessing such players as Tom Patierno. Rudy Parella, Ernie Horvath and Don Furdock. This is a team to be proud of. All undefeated season. Claridel Kinney made the All-State Honorary Team and Joan Moran and Jane Stanicki made the Reserve Team. The team was coached hv Miss Mellen; Louise Hoi- iinpshead and Carol Maurer were the managers: and. Evelyn Mangels and Jane Stanicki were our co-captains. Without the good work of the cheering section, our teams would never have been as successful as they were.
